oh look AI is now gonna play the game for you too
There are so many people that play idle games.
Never understood the appeal.
Number go up , dopamine go up
You’ve hit the nail on the head perfectly but I’d also say they’re a great time killer. I play games on my pc and switch but to me the best way I can put it is that when I don’t have those an idle game is good just because I don’t play it often and I do have to play it to progress (then hit a wall) so it’s something I don’t REALLY have to sink time in to feel like I’m moving along
I kinda went off on a rant so I’m sure some portion of my original point made it in there
People enjoy watching others play on twitch or even live sports.
Not much difference, let people enjoy what they want.
Typically there's a personality in those videos. I see what you're saying, and given the continued existence of "time-savers" MTCs, I'd say you're right even if it's not quite the same.
Automatically adjusting sensitivity on the fly sounds awful...
Especially in a fps where there's different sensitivities for different actions.
Like, if you're driving a vehicle for a few minutes, when you get out and start aiming is it going to be the same as last time you aimed?
Hell, some games have specific settings for each character you can select. How will the controller know which character you're playing and what you want?
I think it’s more it would know you have sniper for more fine control vs an SMG where you would want loose for fast action.
Many FPS games already have separate sensitivity settings for aim down sights vs hip fire, or even scoped vs unscoped.
Scoped sniper you want as slow as possible, scoped smg you would want to be fast for spray and pray.
Hip/vs scope is a game mechanic to mimic real life.
Yes, which is why games already have features that make them different...
It’s a handicap, not a feature, it’s why it can’t be tuned or turned off... it’s why it takes time to aim down the scopes as well…
This is why it IS a feature on a lot of gaming mouse’s to be able to change the DPI on a fly. Each gun you want specific sensitivities on.

Learn to read.
Which games offer individual tuning? Most are just the accessibility slider for sensitivity.
Take your own advice and also don’t make stuff up?
Call of Duty has sensitivity settings for general (hipfire), low zoom, and high zoom. As in a rifle with a scope that has two zoom settings has three different sensitivity settings that can be set in the game's settings menu.
Sensitivity settings are not accessibility settings. Learn what words mean.
Ah, I understand you’ve mistaken accessibility options for tuning and features. It’s an easy mistake to make! It’s not on an individual gun basis and is only for each persons personal preference (accessibility) game wide.
Why do the ones that insult people always seem to be the ones projecting their mistakes. Totally different things, but I’m glad we cleared up your mistake.
Individual guns? Why do you keep changing the subject while ignoring the fact that you don't know the difference between accessibility and preferences?
Accessibility is like colorblind mode, or being able to play the game one handed because the person can't use two. Things that make it accessible for people who are not able to use the base game setup.
Preferences are things the person chooses because they want an adjustment to meet what they prefer like brightness/darkness, sensitivity, cross hair color, or difficulty.
Because that’s why this AI is going to do…? And what this entire conversation was circling around?
No… sensitivity options game wide is accessibility, tuning each gun isn’t. All those other examples are accessibility since they can make games bearable to play for some people.
I absolutely would not want a controller that knows my every move because when I'm waiting, in a unskippable cutscene, loading screen, etcetera, I'll sometimes just quickly rotate both sticks up and down.
Last thing I want is for a first or second gen AI controller to suddenly decide in a boss fight that what I really want to do it flick the sticks up and down rapidly.
So... AI jackasses bought another dead-skin mask for an obviously doomed gizmo.
love it that we have such a powerful tool that could solve so many of our problems but people are just using it to steal art and cheat in games.
I assure you that the rich and powerful are looking at all the ways they can use it to abuse consumers. It's just not in the public eye as much.
I mean, it's because those are easier and less risk-prone. The things you probably want AI to be used for probably aren't going to be ready nearly as soon.
And other AIs are being tested on masses so they just seem like novelties or annoying at worst. It's just not at the point of having more serious applicable uses yet.
Well it solves the problem of workers being distracted with hopes and dreams. Now that ai can do all that pesky "artistic expression" there's no job available. Now you can stop worrying about "finding something better" and get on with making your shareholders more money!
Can we please program a Robin Hood AI already?
Beta level simulation ala Alastair Reynolds but… worse
