Once you start spending time in a space where you aren’t inundated with ads, it feels like it grates at you more when you go back and see them again. Going back to poke my head in on twitter after being on Mastodon for so long, and the constant ads are just so much more conspicuous and in your face. Same with going back to Reddit after time on kbin. You don’t realize how pervasive they are until you get away from them for a while.

Totally hear you and maybe that is the case. It was just jarring seeing an ad the size of my phone screen every time I went into a sub to leave.
No thanks. Good riddance.
Pro-tip: go to old dot reddit dot com from a desktop/laptop and unsub from there.
