He's back to his playful self (yay!!!). He's running around, jumping, chasing stuff! Overall, he's just a lot more mobile. Also, he's gotten a lot more affectionate around me these past 4 days. Do you think he understands that by bringing him to the vet, I'm helping him feel better?

So glad he's doing better!

And personally, I believe while he doesn't actually comprehend what a doctor is, he is aware that you are bringing him to the mean, stabby human and then he feels better and is able to associate the two, just not at our level. Our pets are way smarter than people give them credit for.

I'm not even sure how much they're bothered by needles. I have one I have to give IV fluids to and he doesn't seem to care about the needle at all. What does bother him is if the water is cold.

He knows you are there for him. Hates the guy with the needles. I'm so glad for you, guys. Last year my oldest was in a bad shape and I couldn't bring myself to do anything without feeling down. Wish you a happy life.

Thank you, you too!

Like everyone else said, he understands there's a mean stabby person, and that you love him. As far as science can tell, they don't understand that what's being done to them is for their own good. It's why veterinary chemotherapy tries not to go so hard to induce the bad side effects nearly as much as in humans. Humans understand why they feel so bad and that it's somewhat temporary. Since animals don't (as far as our understanding), we try not to push them into the puking, losing hair, feeling like udder crap zone. If that happens they usually dial back the dosage so the side effects are better controlled.

Best way to end my day is to see your good boy doing better <3

Lost in thought, halfway between the derp-verse and our own :-) I'm delighted he's doing well again. Do they think the shots will keep the paralysis at bay for a while?

Awesome news! What's his name again (sorry if I missed it earlier)?

So, funny thing. We wanted to name him but couldn't think of a name....he started responding to the place holder name...so now he's Meo Meo....
