Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Overdid it doing my paperwork (why does it have to be at Christmas argh) and had to rest a couple of days, so I'm behind with everything.

Managed to see a couple of meteors from that shower though!!

Why are so many toys only available in pink or blue? Like, not just for babies but also for older kids. It wasn't like that when I was a kid, seems quite regressive really.

Agree with you on the toy thing. It's so weird and unnecessary.

Buying gifts for other people's kids is so fraught. There are apparently 3 genders: Unicorn, Dinosaur and Construction Worker

Woooo! Finally managed to get that Friday evening that I've been longing for, after a long long time - beers with the crew followed by karaoke! It was a very tame affair compared to my usual stints, but at least I managed to bring out my inner Veronicas, Freddie Mercurie and Chester Bennington, so I ended the night feeling fairly l content. Unfortunately I don't get a chance to belt out any Carly Rae Jepsen or Britney Spears numbers, so guess I'll have to wait till next year for that...

Also, if you're in Welly - DON'T go to Archie bros for karaoke unless you've got no other option. They've got a great song selection but it's expensive af (like super expensive), plus they close down relatively early - 1AM! They also don't serve any soju there, and the mic in our room didn't even work! (not that we needed a mic...). But the peanut butter whisky shots were yum, and they also had cinema-style popcorn which was nice.

Wellington needs more karaoke spots

Oh man, Soju and Karaoke - takes me back to when I spent loads of time in Seoul for work... Oh, and Tornado shots too 😂 We used to joke that my boss had a body double - one who took the night shift, drinking everyone under the table and staying up till dawn, then he'd go to sleep and the real one would take over, there for the 8AM meeting, shirt pressed, shoes polished, sharp as anything. Those were the days...

Staff Christmas party tonight - I've got to put together a BBQ for 25 today (lamb, roast chickens, kumara rosti + the usual salads and sides), including desserts , drinks, gift bags for all, entertainment (set up my PA for music plus guitar/vocals). Going to be a busy day!

It's warm and overcast this morning, which is preferrable to the overheated mugginess of yesterday. The SO is trying to talk himself into mowing the lawns so I should probably get off my butt and do some housework but all I want to do is nothing at all.

Yesterday I fell off an armless couch that I thought had arms while trying to avoid being in the background of a photo at a work do. I wasn't even drunk, I just didn't want to be photographed hunched over a tray of food like a goblin.

Today I've got a nice bruise coming up on my arm. And I somehow broke my favourite hair clip. Roll on holiday fortnight.

Oof. Sorry to hear about your hair clip and arm, hope it's not bruised too badly. But not long to go now though for the holidays.
