I was perma banned on Reddit for creating a profile to get around a suspension. Any ideas how to get around the ban?

Create a new account, with another mail address, with different name (not simply add a digit or smthg at the end), don't link it to your previous one, don't talk about the previous one, don't complain about the suspension of your previous account

Should do the trick

Also, quit reddit, and have fun with Lemmy, that is a good way to go around reddit ban

You never needed an email account to make a reddit account. All you had to do was click next or skip.

They IP ban, so a new account doesn’t work

Well they don't give out IP bans for just any old thing. Maybe stop posting the shit you posted to get yourself banned if you want to stay there? Just a thought.

They absolutely hand out bans like candy.

In this case, asking your provider to change your IP (some providers have options for that, for exaple mine change my IP whenever I restart the rooter), sharing the phone network (another network = another IP) or using a VPN (use an IP from the VPN server instead of yours) are potential solutions

(but yeah, banning an IP also means that nobody at your home will be able to access Reddit, that's not any kind of ban, be careful with your new account, don't do too much shit if you don't want to also loose it)

Go away spez.

Lemmy or die.

They ban by user metrics. If you really feel the need to interact with that clown show, get a VPN and don't sub to everything you subbed on your banned account.

Maybe it’s your IP address? I’m not sure how Reddit does preliminary screening, they might be seeing your IP address trying to create a new account when you previous account was accessing from the same IP.

Also, what got you banned? Admit the silly thing you did.

Explained why I stopped voting Republican in a brutally honest way

Aaah I see, Reddit mods didn’t appreciate you calling republicans racist troglodytes… got it.

I've had 2 accounts with over 100k karma each perma-banned for very similar reasons. If you access via the mobile app, they will also ban any other account you use the app to log in with.

I’ve tried several. I have an account now with no interaction allowed obviously

Appeal it and say it was a mistake, and be contrite and apologetic. You might catch an admin on a good day.
