Dudes at my work unironically saying "that was the coolest shit i ever seen," and that they "cant wait to see them on the road."

So I guess his "demo" worked as planned on his target audience.

I’d settle for everyone not pretending his controlled descent stage prop is a flying car

Watching the video it looked like Hong Kong films with wire work. There’s none of the wobble you’d see with something that actually uses jets, especially without the mass that a heavy lift rocket has.

He's a goose step salute nazi. Nobody should be giving him the time of day.

But how does this make number go up?

The obvious interpretation is building excitement makes number go up

A more cynical interpretation is that he promised it (since he doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut) and is afraid of shareholder frustration or lawsuits making number go down

It was a good show and fulfilled his wild claims from years ago, but I don’t see how they’re actually going to sell it. They showed three models and only one claimed to be street legal

This feels like it's either genuine or a parody of a parody.

Its much more complicated than that.

Cancer is a group of diseases, some of them have vaccines now. But CIA had to use vaccination drives to look for bin laden, while knowing it will fuel anti-vaxxer movement. We can't let those terroist win.

We also know there isn't a single human alive that doesn't have microplastics in their blood. That's probably not good, (there are some research to suggest that it contributes to cancer). But plastics are a by product of petroleum, and lots of people will lose a lot of money if we stopped it.

Then also alcohol has a very strong connection with cancer. But lots of christians wouldn't like blood of jesus being demonized like that.

Then there is also research that suggest caloric deficit activates genes that fight cancer. But we must think of the shareholders, the marketing industry, and the global consumerist economy.

So you are kinda right, but also its waaaaaaaay more complicated/nuanced/messy.

they're right in the most boring and depressing way possible, in that we could totally just give everyone the HPV vaccine but nooooooooo that would be expensive...

Cancer caused by HPV used to be, like, the main cause of death for women in the USA, IIRC. Now people barely realize it's a thing that can happen.
We cured (a) cancer and fucking forgot about it.
