Fresh curfews were being imposed across the city centers of Paris and Lyon on Tuesday after the first quiet night since France’s most destructive rioting in years, as Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said a “massive” security operation was planned for new protests Saturday.

Paris police said the curfew in two designated zones — around Place de la République and the Les Halles shopping district — had restored “public peace” overnight and would remain in place “for as long as necessary.” The curfew zones leave out other areas hit on Saturday, including the Champs-Elysées and the area around the Saint-Lazare train station and parts of the Rue de Turbigo in central Paris, where protesters set up barricades and lit fires.

In Lyon, one of France’s largest cities, authorities also renewed a curfew in the city center from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., saying no disturbances had been recorded overnight.

Protest is about causing inconvenience. The other solution involves the Bastille.

The state trying to enforce their injustice isn't going to work in calming anything. This will just make it so that they either get worse or continue.

Idk if that will work out for them tbh. Its trivially easy to just coordinate a single moment where everyone leaves their house at the same time. What are they gonna do then?

Arrest people on fake terrorist charges instead of disorderly conduct and they'll immediately use violence against everyone because if you're breaking the curfew you're automatically guilty on sight.

Historically this hasn't ended well for French governments specifically, but it works great in other countries, so Macron will gamble the far right to support him all the way through.

Don't worry, people already protested during the curfew and didn't get arrested:

They're talking about censoring social media to prevent people from organizing

Yeah i know, but i dont think they will be blocking signal, whatsapp, etc.

When shit hits the fan, news travels fast even without the digital public square.

You think not? Give it two weeks. France's leadership isn't actively looking for an excuse to massacre civilians as much as possible. The same can't be said of the current administration. Project 2025 still calls for the execution of 300 million American citizens.
