FUCK OPRAH!
post
Anyone from PA will remember him shopping at Wegners for his “crudité”. This is no surprise
These people don't do their own shopping. Anything they say about groceries is most likely wrong. Fucking hell Trump didn't even know the word groceries until a while back.
I mean, it was hilarious when Poppy was amazed by grocery scanners, but donnie going on about the word "groceries", sounding like an alien in a skin suit is 1000x that.
Not to give this admin any credit, but he isn't wrong. He said $1 per stick, not per pound. I can get a Kroger 4 stick pack for $3.49 at my local store.
But he was holding a PACK of butter as his example
OK? I just read the quote in the article and the words he said was true. I'm certain that Oz is an out of touch rich asshole, but the statement he mad was correct. If I were to venture a guess, he was probably parroting some PR goon that made the comment about the price per stick and then the out of touch loser called a whole pack a stick. Regardless though, the price per stick comment was correct enough and even if it weren't I don't really care.
There are so so many things that this administration says and does that are asinine at best, blatantly evil at worse. Shit like this is a distraction and a non-issue. Who gives a fuck if he said butter was 1 cent a stick. He's a rich prick. I don't expect him to know a fucking thing about grocery prices. I'm more concerned with his policies as the head of CMS and how they will fuck over those on medicaid and medicare.
Yeah, I buy good butter and it's less than a dollar fifty per stick.
If I just need butter in something with a lot of bigger flavors, I'll use the cheaper stuff. If I'm making a grilled cheese, toast, frying an egg, etc. where I'm gonna taste the butter, I usually use kerrygold. I try to buy it in bulk when it is on sale, though. It is considerably more expensive.
A stick in a box like that is about a dollar but the box contains 4 sticks, what an idiot.
I mean, he did say a stick of butter is about a buck. A pound (4 sticks) is a little under $4 for me. So yeah, that checks out. Yeah, you almost always have to buy 4 sticks at a time but that also means you don't have to buy 4x as often (and butter keeps plenty long in the fridge).
I feel dirty for defending Oz, but this is pretty dumb to get worked up over. The dumbest part is using a unit that's common for use, but not for purchase. Which... Meh.
The video in the article shows him pointing to the unopened box/pound and saying "this stick".
I mean, he did say a stick of butter is about a buck
No he didn’t. He just said “butter is a dollar”. He never specified “stick”
He did but not in the way the other user implies. The video in the article shows him pointing to the unopened box/pound and saying "this stick".
Just before he said "stick of butter"
But just after Laura Ingram called him out
Not watching the video right now, but the quote in the article is
“Stick of butter, bag of peanuts. Butter in America, it’s about a buck [for] a stick like this.”
...no? He said "stick of butter, bag of peanuts. Butter is about a buck" and then Laura said something
Except butter is for box because you don’t buy just a single stick. He said “stick of butter in a bag of peanuts”, which isn’t a adult.
Now you’re just cherry picking, because you refused to admit you’re wrong, and I don’t have time to waste on people like you.
Blocked
i've got one pound left in the freezer of what i got the last time it was 'on sale' for 99c/lb--almost two years ago, i think.. it had been a very long time since it was that low, and i stocked up a lil bit. this is the midwest, where there's lots of cows. low dairy prices used to be quite common.
Butter is less than a dollar per stick though
He held out a pack of butter. Then said a stick like this. So he was being dishonest or stupid. But he indicated the thing he was holding was a dollar. What you just linked was $3.
Can't see the site but this is Walmart, meaning that butter is probably like 20% polypropolene
He might not like it but his dog sure does😂🤣😅😆
I just made butter at home from heavy whipping cream. It’s so easy and cheap, I’m never buying butter again.
Is the quantity of heavy whipping cream to make a stick of butter less expensive than buying the butter itself? I’m intrigued now and might try this myself. Does it spoil faster or anything?
If you are buying premium butter and you use the byproduct (buttermilk) then it may be close to break even. But yes it does spoil faster
$6 of heavy whipping cream makes about $8-$12 of butter depending on if you’re buying cheap butter or expensive butter.
You also end up with a lot of buttermilk which I hate buying because I never use it all.
DIY Butter doesn’t spoil any faster and can be frozen.
It also just tastes a lot better.
Thank you so much. You’ve inspired me - I’m going to give it a try this weekend. I already make my own bread, so this will be a fun addition.
Make soda bread with it, it's delicious
soda...bread?

Uses a good amount of buttermilk
What Is Irish Soda Bread?
Irish soda bread is a type of quick bread that relies on baking soda, not yeast, to rise. The bread contains buttermilk, which contains lactic acid. The acid reacts with the baking soda to create air bubbles, resulting in a perfectly risen dough.
Soda bread became incredibly common during the Irish Potato Famine, as you can make it with only four ingredients: flour, salt, an acid, and baking soda.
TIL, thanks
