Even $66 is too much and I assume that's after they milked him for some type of insurance.

Meanwhile, in evil communist Cuba
(for context, that woman is a volunteer EMT 9/11 first responder with chronic respiratory problems who couldn't get proper healthcare in the States)
This shit is so bleak
“This is a based Christian nation” they say but actual sin like this is rewarded and celebrated.
A little bit unrelated, but didn’t Marx once comment on how western “culture” is hypocritically guilty of everything they slander Jews with in antisemitic tropes?

I'm reminded of seeing a bunch of Advair ads in magazines. (Older man using a bubble stick with older women and young girl; "More bubbles by Grandpa, more air by Advair.") And this sort of pitch is everywhere in pharmaceutical ads. The ethos of "This is the life you'll be able to live if you only buy our product", but it's not just a superficially deniable illusion like most advertised consumption, but an actual reality for people that need the inelastic good of the pharmaceuticals. The implicit assertion is "We have our hand on the lever of your life" and "You depend on us for your ability to live".
Direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertising is one of the most uniquely fucked up things about this country. Intellectual property enforcement on lifesaving medicines is social murder.
Four Thieves did a couple high-impact DIY guides; I wonder if someone else has done one for inhalers.
Remembering that recent poll about how most Americans have a positive view of capitalism and free enterprise and I never really understood how to reconcile that with Luigi's status as a folk hero.
Speaking as an American: Most other Americans really can't comprehend a world without capitalism. I've talked to plenty of people who seriously couldn't comprehend the idea of not having to pay for healthcare themselves, or not having a car to drive everywhere, etc.
