This seems like something an Excel spreadsheet could do

i used to leave near a mcDs and a few other fast food joints. so it would just kind of happen those days where i was tired or whatever and wanted something predictable and with limited effort by me.
now i live somewhere fast food is inconvenient AF. the fastest, cheapest thing would be to hit the budget grocery store's hot lunch bar or like a takeout diner place. i would have to drive like 20 mins to get a McCrap. been here for about 2 years, and legit that's how long its been since ive had any.
its funny how crucial their strategy of being everywhere is to their revenue. because nobody is going out of their way for this overpriced shit lol.
McCrap
Actually it's called McWrap

On a "mechanical" level McDonalds tastes good.
But I could soak a piece of cardboard in loads of sugar, protein, and oil, and it too would be "mechanically delicious"!
It really is ultra bland food.
Need to start asking to speak to management, offer $0.99 flat for a single hamburger, if they decline, turn around and walk out. Send a message. Force negotiated pricing for everything.
Haggling at the McDonald's drive through speaker while an ever growing number of angry burger brains are all honking repeatedly behind me. "Just a second I think I can talk them down a bit more on this combo deal"
I have fantasies like this but they're mostly just involving me and a couple other friends in our cheap ass cars, slowly bringing our car to a complete halt in highway traffic across all three lanes and then walking away.
Your scenario makes me realize, though, that holding a drive thru hostage for a couple bucks off my disgusting food seems like it would put all the pressure on them to make a deal just to get me out of there.
I guess me not going for McDonalds for years is "winning"?
Hell even my sibling has bought way WAY less from there.
I do know one guy who is absolutely 👌obsessed👌 with his McDonalds. I don't.... I don't get it.
maybe he enjoys the diarrhea part.
It might be the coffees?
Even then a drip machine is cheap and cans of ground coffee isn't exactly what anyone would describe as expensive.
Idk where you live but in the last five years the price of the cheap, crappy canned stuff at [grocery store owned by one of three companies in the canadian monopoly] has almost doubled in the past decade. Fuck $20 for 900g of coffee...

Oh shit!
....Why am I shocked? This isn't surprising in the slightest.
It's surprising in the sense that I don't think there's even a pretend-reason to jack the prices, they're just sticking the arm in!

Actually, there have been pretty severe environmental conditions that have led to poor harvest yields of coffee beans in both Brazil and Vietnam for the past few years. There's also been a huge bump in demand for arabica beans specifically, which are the most popular type for home brewing.
The unfulfilled demand relative to supply is currently roughly the same as in the mid-70s coffee crisis.
See, if I were a McDonald’s competitor, I’d figure out a way to manipulate the data McDonald’s is pulling such that their demand metric is artificially high. If the AI dynamically prices all the McDonald’s in a metro area to have $15 Big Macs, then the $6 Whopper looks like a steal.
no one understands capitalism better than leftists sadly. the actual response the other companies will have is to also make their burgers as expensive and make the market shittier with no consequences
Yeah that would be the long term effect; the burger places keep manipulating the others up in price and then move their price to be just below their competitors but still higher than their old prices.
Hell, even without direct manipulation I could see that happening; counter-dynamic pricing where they look at what McDonald’s has raised the Big Mac price to, and then raise their “deluxe” burger prices up to be just under that. Sort of a bizarro version of betting a single dollar on The Price is Right.
How does that work with delivery apps if multiple stores are all within delivery range of the same location? People are just gonna pick the cheapest location.
Remove the choice. You are no longer ordering from a specific franchise - you are ordering from McDonalds in abstract.
Likely the delivery app will have an agreed stable price different from the one on the store.
I just assume they know how to do a deeplearning on the delivery address to check if you make more than $20k/year (every coin past $20/k year belongs to McDolans and should rightly be returned to it's master).
I doubt that will stop them.
And prices already aren't the same across locations. Here at least.
Location based pricing is not new, and AI in this case is likely just a regular ass probability model. This isn't new at all; look how much a cravings box from taco bell costs in a downtown near you and then in a ghetto near you. In my city, it's more than a 100% difference.
It's no surprise that people in nicer areas have more money and those areas cost more to do business in. It's also no surprise the inverse is true. It's even less surprising a public company is doing everything in their power to maximize profit; they have a legal obligation to do so and it funds your 401k.
McDonald's isn't the super villain here, change the legal obligations or incentives of private companies to be more socially focused and minimize performance based comp for execs.
is it breaking the boycott if i trick them into losing money?
the point of boycott is to make them lose money, if you can make them lose money faster then go ahead
Remember that trick where you could get a free single cheeseburger by ordering 11 of them and requesting ten of them without the meat patty?
