Ah, so the Constitution is just a listacle of privileges! Gotcha.
post
IT'S LITERALLY THE VERY FIRST RIGHT GRANTED TO US BY THE CONSTITUTION YOU FUCKING MUPPET
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Fuck you Todd, you fascist piece of shit. You can get dragged straight hell by your lips, sealed around Donald Trump’s cock. This is our country, our White House, and our free press. YOU are the one here by privilege, and it’s obvious from your obsequious fear that you can see that privilege ending.
I don't think that's why it was illegal, because trump isn't congress and he didn't pass a law.
Courts have applied the bill of rights to the executive branch and to the states as well, so that's established. It's the abridgement of the press that I don't see their argument for here.
Would the argument then be that the Constitution doesn't explicitly state access to the white house? I feel like that's the shitty logic that would be used to defend this statement
Edit: to clarify, I meant the statement by Blanche
Its literally a right! How the fuck do American politicians keep themselves upright despite the lack of spine all the mental gymnastics they're permanently doing requires?
"Look, what we're doing is not technically illegal," the administration flack said, for the 873rd time this year.
It would be very funny if the media started saying stuff like "The president, who won't allow us to be in the room with him, could have been snorting horse tranquilizers when he offered to sell weapons to China. At any rate, we can't tell you that he wasn't."
They won't do that, though.
We need a government. These criminals aren't even pretending to be one anymore.
It's literally in the first amendment. You don't have to look far. Yes, believe it or not there's an amendment before the second.
What's the legal basis for this though? The first amendment says Congress shall make no law "abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press". This is not an abridgement of what they publish. There's no prior restraint. The government has always been able to pick and choose who gets press access.
