Which is why it's a shame to see you fight each other as if that isn't the case.

I would wholeheartedly recommend reading How To Win Friends And Influence People (or at least this summary). Especially if you're trying to convince people to vote in the midterms.

Elmo (people discussing US midterms here) choosing between fruits (trying to understand before making their point) and cocaine (infighting and proving each other wrong at all cost).

Might be my supposition, but I believe the more aggressive political posters happen to come out of hibernation specifically for election time and then go back to sleep until the next cycle.

This, especially places like the latestagecapitalism@lemmy.world by K1nsey6@lemmy.world

They banned me (as well as delete my reply) for pointing out their obvious "both sides" propaganda meant to discourage voter turnout.

I suggest checking it out to understand what modern propaganda is like

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

We don't need good intentions. We need strategies that work and a plan.

After watching nearly two straight years of this shit, I want to see results that fix some of these problems and stop the bleeding. I give less than a shit if we all kumbaya our way there together.

Well, the better way forward would be acknowledging that the Democratic party isn't a party and building the institutional infrastructure to respect that this is a coalition of several entirely distinct constituencies with very different views and restructure internal party politics to reflect that. Right now, the problem is the Democratic party doesn't actually HAVE a platform. It has a platform statement, most of which the "party" will never achieve because there isn't a single plank that is supported by every congress critter. About the only thing we all agree on is "Not Trump, not now, not ever" and why is entirely up to the individual.

We also have to come to grips with the fact that what the donors want, and what the voters want, are entirely different things and both sides of that are impotent without the other. We have witnessed what happens when money runs the show. Voters don't show up and chaos ensues. We also know that without money, organizing becomes impossible in an economy where any kind of volunteer service costs individuals a whole lot more than just some free time.

Why go against Trump when you can slander democrats and advertise third parties that have no chance to begin with?

To add, in 2024 the 3rd party candidate with the most votes was magician Jill Stein, who magically appears right before elections, then magically disappears again afterward. And she got a whopping half of a single percent of the total votes cast.

So yeah, ain't no 3rd party going to win a federal election anytime in the near or remote future. And ain't no 3rd party even really trying. So why fucking vote for them?

But I'd say arguing over who's got the better opinion is what democracy is about. It's messy, loud and sometimes violent but I think it's better than living somewhere where only one opinion is allowed.

Nah that's just an ex redditer thing. Have alternative plans for when voting get subverted, if your just banking on voting democrats in to fix things and Donald won't cry fowl and block it. Your planing for failure.
