So, i remember back in the day, James Bond movies became increasingly silly and campier, until Mike Myers came with Austin Powers, and it kinda flunked the real ones for a while until they decided to retry a more serious style with Craig. I feel the same happened with Scary Movie sending teenage slashers to hide in a corner for a while.

So... Why has no one tried a superhero spoof? At this point this shit writes itself, and it might give us a superhero respite?

... This is a kinda shower thought. But still.

I have loved every iteration of The Tick, including the original comics, but the animated series is arguably the best of all, not least because of Townsend Coleman's outstanding performance as The Tick.

Patrick Warburton and Peter Serafinowicz were great, because they're great in everything they do, but Townsend is on another level.

Also, Ben Edlund is a comedy genius.

    Greatest American Hero

    Mystery Men

    Super

That’s just the first three that came to mind

    Greatest American Hero

That show was so good, but it jumped the shark in the 3rd season. I rewatched it a few years ago, and the chemistry and writing between the three leads was so good. William Katt is a severely underrated actor.

    Super starring Rainn Wilson

Mystery Men starting Ben Stiller and William H. Macy

    The Incredibles

Also check out non-Western cinema superhero movies if you want just a fresh take and not necessarily a parody. The Krrish movies and Hanu Man from Indian cinema are first to mind. They do sometimes embrace/subvert/parody American superhero film tropes.

Underdog? Speed of lightning, sound of thunder, fighting all who rob or plunder! One of the recurring(?) villains in the series was called Overcat!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underdog_(TV_series)

    Added: I didn't know Overcat's backstory. OMG. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Underdog_characters#Overcat :

Overcat (voiced by Allen Swift) is a giant anthropomorphic cat who was once the infamous ruler of the planet Felina. He is an arrogant bully and also has all of Underdog's powers.

After the milk wells on Felina run dry, Overcat steals cows from Earth, kidnaps Polly, and forces her to milk the cows so the giant cats of Felina can have a lifetime supply of milk. After Underdog rescues Polly and the cows, Overcat challenges Underdog to a winner-take-all fight. Unless Underdog fights Overcat, the giant cats of Felina will destroy the Earth. As Underdog battles Overcat, it appears Overcat has the upper-hand, but Overcat's size and lack of speed allow Underdog to come out the victor. Overcat is banished from Felina in exchange for the other cats being given coconut trees to get milk from.

Oh another superhero movies suck take. Seriously how hard is it to just tune out and not watch. They are obviously popular and still make tons of money.

Dude, Austin Powers is just a remake of all the original spy spoofs of the 60's like Matt Helm and Flint - hell Flint talks to dolphins (and I say this as a huge fan of the Austin Powers movies, they're hilarious, Mike Myers is a comedic genius).

Bond itself is a full-tilt spoof. I mean just watch Goldfinger - it's a hilarious send-up of so many tropes.
