griefers cant blow up my base if I already blew it up myself with a nuclear reactor, making the surrounding area an irradiated hellscape

Some of us like to build though.
See, many people say graphics are less important than gameplay. Which is true, especially with Minecraft.
But a good looking base makes the gameplay that much more enjoyable.
I've known plenty who just throw all their machines and farms out in a field. And it works, it just doesn't look great. With a bit of TLC, they could have an awesome base. But it seems like they want to speedrun Minecraft and be done with it.
Last base I build was a Solarpunk Utopia city in a giant dome to keep out the rain. It was a perfect dome made with geometry and the create mod so I didn't have to build it myself. Radius of 128 blocks.
It's either an underground cave or a castle
What are those anti grief defenses? Are they in the room with us right now?
The modern minecraft mountain generation is so good. I love finding a nice mountain and start hollowing it out. My latest word i found an island with a trial chamber underneath it. A decent sized cave system and a natural cove for me to build farms around.
Making a complex underground bunker inside of a mountain with a big automatic redstone door. is always the "go to" base for me. Makes me feel like a super villan on modded id always look for volcanos for the same reason.
Started a Minecraft server recently for the household+friends, and I did what I've done for 15 years: Small shack on the surface, huge tunnel base underground
Go ahead bomb my 2×2×5 cell with a bed, furnace, workbench, and double layer chest. It will take me all of 5 minutes to replace
Underground/Cave/Mountain bases are goated. On top of all of this, they're easy to expand without having to redesign or move, and in modded you can make room for glorp inside the walls almost unnoticeably
It's been ages since I've played Minecraft, but my favorite and most frustrating base was one of those guardian temples in the ocean. The kicker was that it was a fresh server, and my buddy and I tackled that as our starter base. No armor, stone tools... Just a few stacks of sand and some doors to drain it, and lots - LOTS - of dying.
When we finally got that thing drained and hollowed out... so satisfying!
A small wooden hut with slightly stylised roof, a bed, a firmace and crafting table.
Oh and trap door.
Now, tunnels below may reach multiple hundreds of blocks each way like tendrils...and be more stylised inside tha n the hut...
Solo, or multiplayer with friends - has to be the biggest gnarliest thing you can possibly make.
Online, or multiplayer with "friends" - dig a hole, cover roof, go for a nice cup of tea and wait for morning.
In any survival style game I play, it's the bare minimum for me. Hell, in Palworld, I only made a 3 wall house with a roof because that counts as an enclosure.
Dirt hut that gets half-assed upgraded to wood, then stone if I’m feeling fancy.
I’ve never been great at design :’)
Man, makes me remember the days of building TnT cannons and playing Mafia online. Good ole days XD
Any house that is carved into like a hill already got 5/6 walls and thus by default the best ROI(you don't spend any building material and get some back). Heck, you might even have a 2 block gap and have all 6 walls already in place.
Although I find that building one in the ground(like a hole) also works.
