Had to look it up. She's Jewish and has that mistaken belief that the Israeli government = all Jews everywhere.

Legit question, why the fuck do people seem to think government = a people? Like I fucken hate the English government, aristocracy, and royalty to the point I want to purge it but that doesn't mean I want to exterminate the English as a whole. Is this a side effect of nation states? Or is it moreso a result of Israel in particular? Because I feel like I had folks accuse me of racism over hating certain governments and countries before namely N Korea, S Korea, and Russia but I don't know if thats dishonesty or not.

Governments (especially authoritarian ones) like to perpetuate that way of thinking. A government that doesn't speak for the citizenry is illegitimate. To avoid the appearance (even if it's a thin veil) of being despotic tyrants and/or bought and paid for by private interests (but I repeat myself), they perpetuate the notion that the people agree with the government, even to the point of being synonymous with the people. And the media goes along with it. They don't speak of the government as a distinct entity from the borders or citizenry of the country. They don't say "the government of the U.S.A. bombed Iran", they say "the U.S. bombed Iran". They don't say "the Israeli government expanded their borders and genocided more Palestinian people", they say "Isreal annexed disputed land". It's just part of how the propaganda machine works. In fact, it's an integral part of how the propaganda machine works.

Israel has a few factors that intensify this particular effect. Their government playing into it constantly is certainly part of it. Also, Jewish people made up notable minorities in many countries, but majorities in zero, between about 586 BCE and 1948 CE. The insular nature of those minority communities made them an easy scapegoat for a lot of groups for those ~2500 years, so a lot of cultural significance was put into the perceived need to be a majority somewhere. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't want to get rid of the boot, they just want to be the ones wearing it.

What's the deal with Ed Sheeran? I keep hearing people hating on him the past day or two but I have not seen any reason why.

The venues hosting his tours kicked Macklemore out for supporting Palestine. He wouldn't take a stand and all of his supporting bands, including his backing band quit.

I’m out of the loop on this and I don’t want to look it up, I’d rather ask here and have one of you fill me in.

Edit: I’m grateful for everyone who replied.

Macklemoore was opening for Ed Sheeran on his tour, and took some time in his set to speak out in favour of not genociding Palestinians, including clarifying statements that he wasn't blaming Jews in general, just specifically the state of Israel.

The owner of many of Sheeran's tour venues phoned him and said he needed to change his opening act or he'd be barred from performing at venues owned by the same company and several other venue-owners who'd agreed to join the threat. Sheeran caved, despite the fact that some of the tour dates were too soon to plausibly book a replacement capable of filling the venues, and Sheeran being a massive ticket-seller in general, so it likely being a bluff.

P!nk retweeted a message from a pro-Israeli organisation accusing Macklemoore of extreme and vile antisemitism, then when called out for it, doubled down with direct accusations of Macklemoore being an antisemite and wanting to harm Jews.

Wait a sec, Pink is pro genocide? ???

    Edit:

    https://variety.com/2026/music/news/pink-explains-macklemore-social-media-post-palestine-jewish-1236859273/

Tldr pink is a Jew and is making it all about her and how bad it is that Jews feel targetted and scared, instead of about palestinians that are targetted and murdered.

I'm Jewish. I'm not religious. I've studied a fair amount about Jewish, Abrahamic, and Judeo-Christian history, scripture, and culture. I am by no means an expert, but I've forgotten more about these religions than most people ever bother to learn.

Armed with this knowledge, I'm ready to make an assessment:

    • P!NK is a bad Jew.
    • Any pro-genocide Jew is a bad Jew.
    • Any Jew who calls people antisemitic for criticizing military actions is a bad Jew.
    • Any Jew who compares humans to animals and uses xenophobia to justify marginalization is a bad human.
    • Any Jew who uses comparisons to animals as justification for extermination is a bad person.
    • Any Jew who condemns children instead of reaching out to them is a bad person and is not paying attention.
    • Any Jew who celebrates the extermination of entire families, bystanders, and civilians needs to examine their entire life while literally eating a brick.

And please don’t talk to me like I’ve never stood up for my beliefs when it was unpopular. In the middle of the Gulf War in 2006 I put out a song called “Dear Mr. President” and sang it every night on tour while my country was in a war I didn’t support,

And now I’m standing up for my own people,

Translation: "my country" = America, "my own people" = genocidal Zionists. Great take. I'm sure all the dead women and children in Palestine would be so proud of you.

For real, how does everyone in the media bother to feign such cognitive dissonance all the time? When someone says they're against the war in Iran, does that mean they want to kill all Americans?

Who falls for this shit? Zionists need to find something better than playing the victim card 24/7.
