Damn, this is such an improvement over the US. She wasn't even murdered. Must be nice to have rights.

People should definitely have this sort of power other others! And both of the other police, did they receive any repercussions for standing by while someone is assaulted? Fucking doubt it. If the bunch is rotten, compost the bunch.

He's definitely an asshole, and deserves to get suspended (fired if he's done this before), but at least she's still alive. Donnie Dump's personal gestapo ( a.k.a. ICE) have been getting away with literal murder in my shithole country. That one fucking pig shot a woman in the face, then called her a bitch. They have two videos of it including his own body cam, and news outlets still lie about it and claim she tried to run him over.

One of the reasons why the situation is so bad in the USA now is that this sort of behavior has been tolerated so much for so long

This guy should be fired on the spot for this, this was assaultand battery. I could go to jail for this, ehy not him?

The Public Prosecutors Office stressed that people should not form opinions about the incident solely based on the footage circulating online, since the full circumstances surrounding the incident have not been established.

Mmm. Mmm yes. OR - fuck that. The officer is suspended without pay during the investigation. Criminal assault charges are filed.

Yeah, lmao to that. What context are we missing? The woman didn't even obstruct the entering of the van that hard, just turned around stalling a bit and at worst said maybe something mean about the maternal heritage of the police officer.

This is very interesting, because this is a male cop behaving completely unhinged in front of two female cops while assaulting a female.

If the PPO asks me to not just judge the punching of a presumed innocent citizen, that’s some of the circumstances I focus on.

The arestee no doubt said something inflammatory to get the dude to snap, but if he was properly trained and professional that wouldn’t have happened.

He should he suspended immediately and have reevaluated whether he’s fit for duty.

You know what's funny, whenever farmers (who take huge sums of EU subsidies) show up in their big tractors to protest having to cut back a little because they're killing all of friggin' nature, the police never give them a beat-down. Weird.

The Dutch, Belgian, French, and German cops have their own special level of "forceful de-escalation". You don't follow my commands, I beat you with my baton, or let the dog bite you, your choice. Absolutely disgusting. But at least you're less likely to be shot by them, but they're still the same kind of "people" compared to American cops.

I've been lucky though to avoid any physical violence with Swedish police, but physical violence isn't their preference... It's psychological violence that they crave.

When I was younger, I started bad-mouthing a group of cops walking by the bar I was drinking at. Hanging with a group of friends, just some mean-hearted banter at the cop bastards, like the punk kids we were.

Of course they got mad, and first decided I need to be put into the drunk tank for disturbing the peace... The drunk tank here is a brightly lit cell with a steel bed and no blanket or anything. "For your safety". Enjoy sitting there in the light with nothing to do for 6-8 hours. Toilet right in the middle of the room, with a huge door-window to the cell, where the guard looks inside at least once every 5-15 minutes. Again, for your safety.

I told them I'm barely drunk, I had only had one beer. They could see that easily as well.

"Oh, then you're certainly drug intoxicated", so they forced me into their car, where they drove me to the hospital like 40 minutes out of town, where I was forced to leave a blood test. They also seized my phone "to gather evidence on who I might have bought drugs off of".

After the blood was taken, they escorted me out and then said "bye, you'll be hearing from us once we're done with your phone". I ask how the fuck am I supposed to get home now? "We're not a taxi service, but you'll figure it out yourself!" and drove off laughing.

So I got to wander around a closed hospital in the middle of nowhere at 1am in the morning until some lab tech went out for a cigarette, and they were nice enough to call me a taxi. The real final hero was the taximan, who let me pay the insane fare (was like over 1,5k SEK, high tariff for both nighttime and long distance) within a couple days, as he understood the cops fucked me hard. I wouldn't be surprised if he's heard similar stories, and he's just happy to get some form of compensation for those fares...

I was of course confirmed drug-free after the blood test came back, but I never got any apologies, nor compensation for anything, not even for the taxi fare.

    ACAB, regardless of nationality.

For sure less murders and better trained.
In Europe there are certainly bad apples (as seen here) but not comparable to the mass and blatant gang/thug mentality of US cops.

OTOH While at least a few US pigs get punished for the huge number of murders none of the Belgian police get punished for the rare cases of plain murder they commit.
There was an article about it only last week.

Slapping isn't good, but I would be careful judging/crucifying someone based on a small clip without the complete context. All are humans, and though it is by no means right, we all have limits to what we can take before we snap. Words can be even more cruel and hurtful than a slap, and we don't know what is beeing said.. that said, this doesn't look good.

You see a tiny clip that matches your world view: police are bad. And instantly you no longer care about context. This is exactly how MAGA processes information.

Always demand the full picture. Never listen to only one side. And stay cricital of all evidence shown. That is hard, but at least stop downvoting and telling off people that point this out.

And I repeat: this still looks bad. Very much worth investigating what happened. Most likely this cop went out of line. But let's not play judge based on a couple of seconds of contextless video.

    There is no context necessary.
Most likely this cop went out of line. PERIOD
    The woman is cuffed.
What you're looking for is an excuse or explanation why the pig couldn't control himself, acted totally unprofessional and abused his powers.
There is no justification for this and he should be punished.
They have rules and laws to follow too.
He deserves no sympathy or understanding.
Neither do the bootlickers of authoritarian violence who want to excuse this despicable behavior.

unless you're from the US or another violence loving sick authoritarian banana republic slapping a cuffed woman in the face is very much wrong and illegal.
There is really nothing more needed than this 2 second clip.
At least you got that right.

    What a braindead take.

You can't "snap" and punch someone when you're a cop and under literally no danger.

Let's try and find a Steel Man argument for this. Lets say...

She's been arrested for murder, and the cop who slaps her is the father of the victim. And he slaps her in response to her saying she'll murder someone else in his family. Oh, and for good measure, let's say the woman was a Nazi. I love Nazis getting punched.

That's a cartoonishly large motivation to slap the hell out of someone.

But, it's still not okay. Abuse of power is abuse of power. The power is the important dynamic here. Sure, this time it's a Nazi murderer. We don't like Nazis or murder. What happens when the people who decide abuse of power is okay aren't aligned with my views? What happens when they don't like trans people? Or people of color? Or you, individually and specifically?

This is not reactionary, it's fundamentally antithetical to a safe and free society.

I'll give you an updoot for contributing, even though I think this video show clear abuse of power.
How about this situation: An old demented woman in a nursing home is freaking out not wanting to get back in bed, perhaps hurling racist insults, and their carer finally snaps and hits her so she'll comply.
    Would that be OK?
