Yup, it is part of the same marketing scheme whether intentional or not which is to hallucinate that AI is powerful, profitable or widely useful. Putting a fear based spin on it or a positive, hope based spin on it doesn't change that fundamental fact that the process begins with hallucinating AI is a real industry on anywhere the scale it is pretending to be right now with essentially unlimited fake money.

One can predict doom and not be part of the PR. I just think we're the core part of the doom, not (necessarily) some AGI that comes out of this. We've shown we're good at getting ourselves close to extinction with simpler tools.
