Nazis didn't actually know that Operation Paperclip would happen yet at the time, but they did massively prefer surrendering to the western allies. Germans had built up such a fear of the Red Army (largely due to their own racism and propaganda) that civilians committed suicide en masse.

In Demmin where the Wehrmacht and police blew up bridges and deliberately trapped citizens in the town, people began randomly killing others and then themselves in the street and families began drowning themselves in the river. There are accounts from some Red Army soldiers that dove in and tried to save children whose parents were drowning them.

They might not have known for sure but enough of them stashed bargaining chips in mine shafts and other hidey-holes that they must've had some idea that the western allies would be open to some form of partnership

Piglet is briefed by the CIA before being shipped off to the School of the Americas where he will teach torture interrogation techniques to Central American contras under the assumed identity Porky Pig. Despite numerous cosmetic surgeries, Piglet could never get rid of his stutter.

As a kid I was really confused on the gender of both piglet and rabbit. Are they both guys?

A coincidental layer of the joke is that Piglet's Swedish name is "Nasse", which means nazi in Swedish.

In Norwegian as well: en nasse = a Nazi, Nasse Nøff = Piglet

Yeah, Scandinavian is a dialect continuum with three (or I guess four?^[Nynorsk is a written standard without much of a spoken equivalent.]) Dachsprachen: simultaneously all three are close enough that they could be counted as one language (and sometimes are, I believe the Nordic Council does this), at the same time as all three languages have so much internal variation that you have to question whether there really are only three languages. Pronunciation especially can hinder spoken communication.

Either way, in this case it's slang and character name localizations, which can be a lot more variable between Danish, Swedish and Norwegian than things like the Swadesh 207. Norwegian does borrow a lot of slang from Swedish but not all of it catches on.

We also sometimes call nazis "pigs" in english as a reference to the fact that they're dirty animals! Love how language works sometimes.

(Joking aside, that actually is a really fun language fact thank you for sharing)

"The Unwritten" has a great sub-plot with a dark knock-off of the 100 Acre Woods: https://shelfdust.com/2025/06/25/a-clock-that-has-been-over-wound-the-unwritten-12/
