Over the past year or so, I've had a project with a friend to motorize a Dobsonian telescope and have it ready by the eclipse of August 2026 in Spain so we could use it at night for looking at a bunch of cool stuff like nebulae and Saturn and whatnot. Well, we fucking made it! If anybody wants to motorize a telescope using OnStepX (open source project) I have a lot of input lmao

It was super cool pressing "go to Saturn" on the phone and having the telescope point itself to the planet. Pretty proud of that. Working together with a friend on a project is some of the best fun I've ever had

despite an absolutely crushing year where i lost more people close to me than i could count, i'm somehow still going and making a better life for myself instead of hiding behind the bottle like i've done before so many times

    People feel safe with me.

When I open up about my dad people often say things like "how the hell did someone like you come from someone like that?".

Exercising for half an hour each day. It's just a simple jog around the entrance to the park near where I live but it feels good to actually stick to something even if it doesn't feel like I'm making any visible progress.

I'm in a similar boat, it's like you have these routines and you see no progress, but the flipside is imagining how it would regress quickly if you were to stop. The plateau is the success that you're able to sustain your fitness at that level consistently and that's plenty good doggirl-thumbsup

I just troubleshot three separate issues over like five hours to get emulation and especially my xbox controller running on my thinkpad. I hopped distros and learned a fair bit more about linux in the process. The big bogeyman issue ended up being with secure boot - i didn't have to do like any of the shit I did, but I did get everything working and I feel accomplished.

I'm learning more and more about bicycles each day. Learning to service, modify and customize them has given me a lot. I love my little rust heap, it's serving me well.

I just hope winter won't eat away at it.

I'm proud of my kid for being a great kid, and I'm proud of myself for being a great parent.

Nothing I can think of. Probably a side effect of having pride figuratively beat out of me in college.
