I think Batman TAS was animated by a team at Sunrise (who later did The Big O), so western cartoons is kinda subjective lol.

Being a pedant aside lol, Gennedy Tartakovsky's worked on a lot of cool stuff: Samurai Jack and his (now non-canon) Star Wars: the Clone Wars are pretty fun if you're looking for more action oriented shows.

The new She-Ra might be something you'd like and we're showing it again on blorp in a bit if you're interested. It's been pretty fantastic so far.

Also also, I just recommended Lower Decks (and Prodigy) as good Star Trek in another thread yesterday, but I will also recommend them as good animated shows here.

Also, the Harley Quinn cartoon show is good and gay

I'm sure I'm blanking on a bunch because the AS circle generated a lot of great shows in the 90s-00s. Closest modern show to the vibe of these (and probably my favorite western cartoon at the moment) is Smiling Friends (all).

The Maxx is really, really good. It's about a homeless man and a social worker who inhabit both the real world where she protects him via social welfare and he protects her in a parallel dimension as like a caveman in the wild.

Scavengers Reign fucks crazy hard

BTAS and X-Men both the 90s and the continuation are really good. I also stan 90s spider-man, and if you're a real sicko there's a couple crossover episodes and they share continuity with the (not as good) 90s iron man and craptastic four.

simpsons season 1-8 are good and it drops from there pretty quick. some good individual episodes after that and some good scenes or jokes but overall it declines.

Futurama is great but pick one of the finales and stop.

Reboot and Transformers: Beast wars are really cool, especially for how early they are.

maybe look up content warnings for them but Heavy Metal is fucken rad other than all the problematic shit and Heavy Metal 2000 is alright if you want more. Love Death Robots does some neat stuff and is kindof a spiritual successor to heavy metal in some ways but it loses a lot by not having the soundtrack.

All of the DC cartoons of the 90's to 00's are pretty dang good

Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited all excellent

Plus JLU has my favorite version of The Question in it, played by Jeffrey Combs as a paranoid conspiracy theorist who is nonetheless right about (most) everything

Also, if you liked Teen Titans, Young Justice is also very good and it's a goddamn shame they keep getting jerked around

My Adventures With Superman is fantastic, my absolute favorite iteration of Superman

Batman: Caped Crusader and My Adventures with Superman are both good

Primal is quite good if you can enjoy very minimal dialogue.

Sym-bionic Titan is also pretty fun for a more traditional cartoon experience, but it was canceled too soon. Still worth a watch though.

Bojack Horseman, Futurama, and King of the Hill are my favorite cartoon style shows but the later two are episodic comedies while the former is a dark drama/comedy with a continual story. Avatar holds up really well and I second the other posters rec of Samurai Jack.

I watched the old 90s X-men before the new Disney continuation and I hated it.

They're too much comics too me, keep reusing characters, has no progress, some of the story related to cosmic shit like Shi'ar is just weird.

X-men Evolution is way better to me.

The DC short animated movies are really good: Suicide Squad, The Dark Knight Returns, Assault on Arkham, The Killing Joke, Hush, Justice League Doom, Flashpoint and etc
