Buying one as a gift but not going to give it to them for close to two months from purchase date. Is there any issue with doing that? I've heard mixed opinions online and I'm not sure.

I can just buy it right before I want to gift it but there are some holiday deals going on right now.

The posts in this sub continue to amaze me….

I can’t imagine how holding onto it for some months would do anything to the watch. I mean, they just sit around in a stock room or warehouse until they sell anyway.

What did you hear can happen to it?

When you buy it from Apple Store or other retailers, there is no guarantee how long they have been sitting there in the box anyways. I won't have any concern if it's idle in a box for few months. Probably will start to worried if it's sitting there for years. And as a PSA, please don't let tech items sit for years, Apple Watch is a tech item and not jewelry. :-)

true, there's always a chance you get one thats been sitting for months. I just assumed there's a higher chance the inventory in stores gets replaced often cuz of customers buying and new shipments arriving.

Yes, you are right. It has a high chance that the inventory is fresh especially for very popular Apple products. However, I'm sure there are items that are not as popular that will sit in the store shelves for months or longer before people buy them.

It’ll be fine. I bought a new series 7 a couple months ago that had been sitting unopened in its box for probably close to 2 years. The battery had no charge when I took it out and it took about an hour on the charger for it to power on, but the battery health was still at 100% and worked perfectly fine

Too bad if the receiver would like to get apple care. They will not be able to get it after two months.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

You should buy AppleCare for it then as there is limited time after purchase to get it

Gift it early…. It would be fine, but imagine the joy of now. These things are inly going to be used a couple years, add a couple months usage time😎.
