Since WiFi 7 is coming, you aren't going to find longevity. The best thing you could do for yourself is to separate the WiFi function from the router by using AP's.
Get a mesh network instead. Google WiFi ones are 3 for $100. It gives you wider coverage over your whole house.

200 USD will give you a few options. 200 NZD, not so much.
Tplink er605 V2 small business router. 5yr warranty and they are packed with features for $60. Honestly they could sell it for 200 for the amount you get. I paired it with a ax3000 tplink access point for wifi. Rock solid speeds. My latency dropped by half just by upgrading to this router. Was getting 20 25ms on my old Linksys. Get 10 to 15ms with this on copper
Asus makes pretty good stuff.
I still have some WNDR3700 (v2, v4. NOT v3) as backup and test devices. My buddy has a WNDR3800 for the same reason.

How big is your place, and how many people live there? That way someone can help you select the right router for the environment.

I get great range and the lcd screen makes updates and troubleshooting very easy. My parents and a few friends use this and it is rock solid.
Refurbished eero pro. They were $39
I just bought an Asus RT-AX58U and been happy with it. It's not super fancy, but I don't need a mesh network to cover my house, so this has been good for me. I think I paid about $140?
I would say the Unifi Dream Router, but it is currently out of stock on their US site.
I wanted to recommend dream machine, but it's now $300! It was $200 for so long...

Did your whole router die or just the wifi? You can use your router as a wired router and connect a good wifi access point like a UniFi 6 Pro. It’ll beat any wifi router at probably any price point.
Depending on the age of his current router it would be advised to get a new one anyway.

Fully second that...had an older tplink A7 that was fine for previous 200 mbps down speed tier, but simply flopped when upgraded to 800 mbps speed...installed the AX55 (AX3000) as primary router, and every device w/ gigabit NIC now records >900 mbps down. Couldn't be more pleased for a $109 investment.
Maybe a AVM Fritzbox 7530 AX when they are available in your market.
AVM has software support for usually 10 years sometimes even more.

I tested Xiaomi AX6000 before ( with those antenna type) It's a great powerful router + very budget friendly! NOT the box type

You didn't specify what country you're buying from, what $200 in your local currency is, whether or not you need Wi-Fi6, how much space you're trying to cover with the router/AP, etc., and it's not 100% clear from your Reddit profile/posts either (probably a good thing though). Thus, I can't make any country-specific recommendations, because not everything is available globally - however, look for something that can run OpenWRT reliably (because it probably already is running some fork of DD-WRT already if it comes from some companies):
