Don’t tempt the Lemmyites - once they get the hankering for posting pics of beans they lose control!

Good thing you didn't plumb love asparagus

I mean, I enjoy a hearty puttanesca myself, but I'm not sure that a child would appreciate the moniker

I'm more concerned about the fucking parasites that may or may not be in it since we can't trust the government to not Taylor Farms us with the diarhea lettuce do-over.

Someone donates to a soggy Cheeto's PAC and all of a sudden it's all good, they didn't just poison thousands of you, nothing to see here!

Meh that seems about the right price for a rib eye, although that does look like big supermarket rib eye rather than butcher rib eye so should be a bit cheaper ..

You used to be able to find them on sale for like 9$/lb...

[-] Defectus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Lol. Here in Sweden its 40$ in the supermarket or 70$ for a premium piece

Edit: per kilo

[-] Lodespawn@aussie.zone -1 points 1 day ago

I feel like that's too cheap for a good cut of meat, bear in mind I'm using AUD and kg, I'd just buy chicken or white fish if I needed cheap meat

Nowadays you are 100% correct.. it would be like ungraded cat food. A few years ago it was AAA/choice. Even ground beef is like 8$/lb now and thats from costco 😑

Is 0.3% very significant? Seems like that'd be below most noise thresholds? I'm not a statistician

[-] atro_city@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

Will this make them vegetarian?

I keep releasing boxes of Lonestar ticks in the northeast in the hopes that they do

I seriously doubt it. Those prices are low when compared whith my own country's and we have a lot less buying power. Some cuts incresead price by 126% in a year.

Most people have cut back on beef and opted for other meats and, fortunately, are going back to the traditional cuisine, which is heavily reliant on vegetables, grains and legumes, with cheaper meat supplementing the diet.

Americans will not give up meat anytime soon. It is culturally significant, as I imagine it is in many countries. We will probably go to lab grown meat when it gets good enough and cheap enough.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

Lab "meat" will never be cheaper than growing it in mobile self feeding bioreactors.

[-] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago

Wouldn't lab grown meat be vegan, if it's be done without harming any animals?

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 day ago

The serum they feed those cells certainly harms animals. Lab meat is is huge scam.

[-] DarthFrodo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

That was the case a few years ago. The industry has developed and already uses alternatives. The fetal serum would have been too expensive for commercial use either way.

We still don't know how expensive the whole process will be though, it will certainly be a luxury item for quite some time, while the current plant-based meat is slowly becoming cheaper than real meat.

if you can't pay for meat anymore...

USAians really do love their meat, huh? Can't even imagine a veggie diet. Straight to crime.

[-] remon@ani.social 3 points 1 day ago

I'm not even American and I'd do the same!

[-] gibmiser@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Look i get hating on us Americans but tell me what countries are vegan? Or even vegetarian? Or do you just mean a large portion of the population?
