Why is Hakeem Jefferies?

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

We all know this, but I am surprised that he actually admits it publicly.

But... perhaps there's no point in manipulating the public. It's not as if there's a viable alternative.

Meanwhile, he has the very best healthcare on Earth, all thanks to US taxpayers.

This is just one more reason why our major parties continue to lose voters every year. Rs are now 30%, Ds are now 30%, and Independents are up to 40% (many polls, pick your favorite).

[-] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 hour ago

Unrelated, isn't this so cute?

[-] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 3 points 47 minutes ago

Why wasn't he primaried, New York?

[-] Clutter@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 hour ago

Ok well move aside then asshole and let people take over who actually DO give a damn.

[-] GolfFoxtrotLima@ani.social 10 points 2 hours ago

Vote out this piece of shit corpo

[-] GreenBeard@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 hours ago

Anyone else read his statement in the voice of Uncle Ruckus?

[-] NABDad@lemmy.world 9 points 3 hours ago

Tell me you only care about your corporate masters without saying you only care about your corporate masters.

[-] santa@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Seeing as he isn’t up for reelection until ‘28, if we are able to secure House in mid-terms — he shouldn’t even be Speaker. We need someone backing these agendas and not stalling our needs.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Well, then....bye, Felicia.

[-] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 40 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Find someone who looks at you like Hakeem looks at a war criminal.

That Jeffries guy becomes more and more suspicious to me every time I see a new article. It may be the billionaire-owned media painting this picture or the man may be a fraud. I'm watching you Jeffries. I'm watching you billionaire-owned media.

[-] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

It may be both.

[-] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 27 points 11 hours ago

Hakeem Jeffries can fuck off. It's been clear since day 1 of trump 2.0 that he's a fucking hack, and here we are.

[-] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 16 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Jeffries is clearly a MAGA plant. He can just go cross the aisle and sit with his buddies. He’s taking up a Dem seat. Oh I’m sure the GOP stans will want to re-elect him. You’ve got no friends, buddy.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Ha, he's not a MAGA plant. He's like every other leadership Democrat. This is a Democrat. Believe what's always been right in front of your face.

[-] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 1 points 59 minutes ago

Sometimes I forget there hasn’t been any left or progressives in this country since the McCarthy era.

[-] TriplePlaid@wetshav.ing 30 points 12 hours ago

Instead, Jeffries argued Democrats should focus on making healthcare more affordable by reversing Republican-enacted Medicaid cuts and extending Affordable Care Act tax credits that he said have helped millions of Americans manage insurance costs.

So basically he's saying that now that Republicans hamstringed our healthcare, we should change our goals and just go back to how things were??? I feel like this is the most obvious it has ever been that establishment dems are NOT on our (the people's) side.

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

TBF Jeffries cosponsored single payer bills for a decade. It's probably a better indication of his specific decline rather than the party itself.

Jeffries needs to win in November, though.

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 27 points 15 hours ago

Every corner of rot needs to be dealt with in this country, including controlled opposition.

[-] eurodyne@piefed.world 76 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

You dumb Cunt

And to think, I helped get this guy elected to the Senate for his first term. I campaigned for this asshole. I canvassed. I had a lanyard. I had a clipboard. I knocked on doors. I convinced others to vote for him.

I met him and shook his hand. and this motherfucker lied right to my goddamn face.

I feel fucking dirty, and I feel disgusting for spreading that filth to others

Edit: the Hakeem Jeffries wasn’t in front of the Javiz Center at the BLM protest… But I was and I can bring that fight to the next election… And the next. Didn’t bet on that did you, Hakeem? Well, fuck you. And fuck that horse of entitlement you rode in on.

You know what else survived the NYPD crackdown at the Javits center? This watch (cracks courtesy of the NYPD):

And this watch says your time has run out.

[-] BigDiction@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Thanks for volunteering! It sucks to see this but you’ll know better next time.

[-] eurodyne@piefed.world 3 points 2 hours ago

What I know is that the NYPD are fascist motherfuckers, and next time I’ll be better prepared to dodge a baton

[-] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 4 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

I can only hope a lot of MAGA voters feel betrayed the same way. That pretty optimistic though, trump has his stupid cult of personality around him. Plus he’s actually following through on a lot of his campaign promises, unlike the lying dem mfs.

[-] eurodyne@piefed.world 5 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

I saw a recent video of an interview with the Trump voter that said they regretted voting for Donald Trump because “ICE wasn’t hurting the right people“

These people who voted for Trump are fucking sociopaths, just like Trump. they have nothing but hate in their hearts, and they voted for Trump because they wanted to hurt others. they voted for Trump because they believed he would be the agent of pain and destruction for fellow Americans that they did not like. people like you and me.

It’s like that video of the old man crying on the news weeping because his Haitian wife got dragged off to the concentration camps, with him crying “but I’m a business owner! I voted for Trump three times! Why did he come after my wife?“ Why did you think you were special, asshole?

THAT’S HOW FASCISM WORKS!!!

Fuck this guy. I hope karma catches up to him and all his bullshit.

[-] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 34 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Yeah man i fucking hate making sure americans can afford to live their goddamn lives and maybe spend some of that time with their families?

No? Just work and missiles for war criminals? Fuck off.

I hope you guys on the left understand the assignment is to retake the party from the dumb fucks in my older generation (Gen X specifically, but also the Boomers who haven't croaked yet.) We think we know but we don't. We/they are wrong. The center can win you a battle but it will never ever win the fucking war. Go win the war.

Step one: get rid of the Nazis

Step two: get rid of moderate Democrats

[-] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

You gotta do both at the same time or you won't get rid of either of them. If they act as a unified bloc we should treat them as such.

[-] Major_Tsiom@fedia.io 3 points 4 hours ago

In one fell swoop? We don't have that choice, and even if we did, the numbers aren't there. If it is a decision between a Republican and a centrist Democrat, I'll take the centrist no contest. You have to vote for social democrats in the primaries first. In general elections, I just vote against Republicans.

[-] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 hours ago

The strategy you describe is concurrent, or as concurrent as it can be. If you're a stickler for details it's actually the reverse of the order of operations you laid out, since the primary comes before the general.
