But at least brexit got rid of the brown people right? Right!?

It's almost as if people were warning about this, yet the tories just wanted an easy way to get the number down to appease their voters instead of dealing with the more difficult and real immigration issues.

They could have also worked on a solution to make Home students less of a financial issue. Or figure out a setup where it's not the nationality/residential status of a student that matters for funding.

The UK has (/had) a huge lead in research and education. That shouldn't be beholden to appealing to foreign interests. In fact it should be a way to attract talents away from other countries or to at least influence their thinking. I hate thinking of education in that way, but that's the political reality.

What you just suggested is a matter of you can't have your cake and eat it.

Yes, our education system attracts international talent. It should still be that way. And then we charge international students more, which in turn funds local students. It is actually a fantastic strategy.

Would be better as well if we can keep the talent that gets made here as well in the industries where it is required and local skill cannot fill the roles. Unfortunately, the new visa rules on thresholds from the Sunak government make that prohibitively difficult, and plans to lower the time graduates get makes the problem worse.

The immigration is truly screwed and Parliament is a matter of two extremes bickering. Some idiots want no immigrants at all. The ruling parties are making it harder for good people to get in while not doing anything about the bad people who exploit the system because they can't be bothered dealing with the useful idiots in the legal profession enabling this problem. Then there's that polanski moron who just wants to remove borders as a whole, as it that'll do something. Then everyone is just virtue signaling. Reform, headed by that obvious scam artist farage, doesn't care about actually making the country decent or livable. Labour is just treading water. The tories have drowned. The greens are off their heid on green and living in fantasy land. The SNP got exposed. The DUP cracked in half over a sea border (a consequence of brexit thay they supported??) and their ex leader being a kiddie fiddler. The MP for North Antrim needs to be put into a care home. Everyone is a NIMBY

Oh, and everyone is also trying to destroy the internet. Corporations too.

Unfortunately, I don't think our way of life, and our British values work in the modern era. We are suffering a deluge of fads, when our society is built on decency and respect. The UK hasn't broken yet, but if politicans don't get some common sense anytime soon, it might break. Our electorate is now swayed by fads rather than reason. The politicians are pandering to fads than what makes the country work. Too much privatisation going on.
