U.S. Sen. John Cornyn is threatening to block the confirmation of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche unless he changes the terms of a controversial IRS settlement with President Donald Trump and his family.

The Texas Republican told reporters Monday he wanted a clause removed from the settlement that would create a $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization" fund for people who believed they were wronged by the criminal justice system to receive payouts, according to media reports.

As much as I'm all for getting rid of the slush fund, it's more of a problem that there's any talk of a settlement for a case that wasn't settled. The whole thing was a fraud on the court.
