I loved it. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, The Odyssey as a story has always been a little disjointed and a lot of running away from A to B, but I think it was an incredible theater experience and a really good take on "What if Odysseus was actually guilty of his heroics". @khrux@ttrpg.network did a breakdown I pretty much agree with so I'm not going to repeat the same comment, but I'll just add some random impressions:
- It was so funny seeing Agamemnon aura farm the entire movie only to die a quick and unsatisfying death.
- Interesting that they completely cut the iconic part of the story where Odysseus tricks Cyclops and says he's nobody.
- Circe is horrifying.
- I've seen some people online say the movie is sometimes slow paced/boring which is insane to me. If anything, the movie was really fast paced and some scenes didn't leave us time to breathe - which makes total sense because the movie is already really long. But someone saying it was slow? Crazy.
- My only real complaint is the casting, it's bothering me how many actors I recognize and it took me out a little. ESPECIALLY Jon Bernthal, he plays the exact same character every time and I just can't help but look at him and think "what's The Punisher doing here?"
