sigh I'm so sick of having to AInvestigate every goddamn post nowadays. (This one is even signed!)
So don't?
I don't want to unwittingly help facilitate the AI take-over of real content by upvoting it.

This is me. I am the blurry cow. And I hate it.
If you can't tell, then what difference would there be if you were never suspicious?
That's exactly the problem. I don't want reality to be replaced by an AI-generated fiction without my even realizing it.
I'm with you, I just can't believe we're here. Now we are the Facebook grandmas.
Wait until they realise that admitting they are wrong is actually virtuous
Then they will all do it for selfish reasons
When have they cared about being virtuous? As far as I know, the main point of maga is mostly being vitriolious.
They are not using virtue as a goal to aspire to, but as an excuse to do vile shit and be racist dickbags.

I’m not sure they will admit they were wrong. People are more likely to deny they were ever supporters in the first place and destroy the proof.
One example is Charles Sherrill - he was an American aristocrat & politician in the 1930s. He had great respect for Hitler and was very much in favour of the US attending the Berlin olympics. Because he died in 1936, his journals remain behind as one of few examples of the rich class singing Hitler’s praises, and it’s clear that he wasn’t alone. However, anyone who lived long enough to see WWII and that their horse wasn’t going to win would have destroyed these documents and pretend they were just going along with things for social reasons even though they didn’t support them in their heart.
No. MAGA knows Trump sucks. They just hope he sucks more for lgbtq, brown people, and the "poor". Capitalism is all about power. As long as you have more power than another demographic everything will be fine.
MAGA would let Trump shit in their mouth if it meant a 'librul' had to smell it.
They don't give a shit about anything other than harming outgroups - they will, as they have repeatedly, throw throw themselves on the sword if doing so helps them accomplish evil shit.
Quite possible that they adjust their behaviour in that direction to justify never admitting being wrong
For my local family, the observation is they support it because they want harm for other citizens. They hate each other so much that they would as soon cut their own noses off to spite their face.
Too much self awareness going on here.
Now study an AP Psych course and figure out why they don't want to admit they are wrong, and what you can do about that.
It seems to me that a lack of understanding of psychology is what gets us into this mess of arguing with maga as we do.
I don't think you can have a productive conversation about politics with a fox news watcher when you mention donald trump or point the blame to another GOP politician. I find it is better to get them to talk about their own ideologies, having them relate to their own observations in the world. It would be best to speak about subjects that aren't spoken about on the "news".
There is an unfortunate bias that people have toward believing the first narrative they hear and it seems to me that trumpers don't have the ability to break out of this bias for w.hatever reason. There is also an appeal to authority that comes with fox news being a news network.
The only power that I see we have as someone arguing against this is the fact that these people are going to believe what is coming out of their own mouth over what they hear. It also seems that media similar to fox news already considers this bias and trys to get people to talk about things that cause confusing arguments and will cause the viewer to say affirmations about what ever politician, news network, or belief, and that becomes more ingrained in their identity.
If you want them to break their relationship with the news, the best way I can see of doing it is having them discredit their news source by their own words.
This is the jist of why I talk about politics with people the way i do. You don't have to agree with someone you only need them talking about things that are based in their reality and not misinformation.
Wow, the AP Psych curriculum must have seriously changed since I was in high school...
Go on?
I figure it's because they've been taught admitting fault is weakness, and weakness is bad. That and an inflamed sense of in-group loyalty.
You have to get them to see you as in-group instead of maga.
Pretend they're in a cult. Partly because they are. And you just rescued someone from the cult, and you want to "deprogram" them. What are the techniques psychologists and therapists would use?
They would try to build a relationship, try to build trust. They wouldn't alienate or shame the individual. They'd take it slowly, and try to avoid outright denying their reality. Instead encouraging them to engage in questioning it.
Honestly most of it is just trying to be their friend. It's hard to stay in a cult and be friends with someone who isn't in it at the same time. Right now that's what the Conservative politicians are good at, is pretending to be their friends. You have to seem like the better friend.
