I am looking to build a custom home for an upcoming move. Any clever networking ideas to consider when building the house?

Don't just pull cable, run some conduit. Yes the price will be a bit higher, but in 10 or 30 years you or someone else might be very happy you did.

Why will we be happy we did?

It will make it much easier to change anything later. Such as if you decide you want to run any other kind of cable there, or replace the cable with...fiber optic or something so you can watch 16k super definition video in the year 2035 or something.

It'll make any changes easier.

Two cables to each location, even if you do conduit. If you have an office planned, multiple network outlets in the room. Ethernet to the AV/TV locations, garage(s), patio/deck, front driveway, and any place you might want to surveil from (like - backyard looking towards the structure, for instance). Plan to wire everything that can be wired, leave wifi for the convenience and IoT stuff. Do a good study on locations for APs for optimal coverage.
