https://www.mtracey.net/p/sex-trafficking-laws-are-out-of-control

I'm not going to put the entire article here because my phone gets weird when I try to copy the whole thing. Instead. Here's how it ends

If, after reading the series, you feel I have oversold the pitch, and have enticed you with a “false promise,” feel free to sue me for “trafficking” — you’ll probably win.

Edit: here is am archive https://archive.md/GQlYx

I'm no expert, but I feel like you could say "This law doesn't actually go after the people it should, targeting innocent people instead." and you'd be fine, not doing...whatever this was. I don't often come away from an article with the feeling that the author has women tied up in their basement, but this is one of those times.

Michael Tracey is an Epstein truther, in the sense that he doesn't think the epstein files have proof of anything illegal in them and there's no proof he did any sex trafficking. He also routinely defends (other) pedophiles and sex abusers.

Yeah, and I'm sure his intention with this article was to try and make me think the opposite of that. But if I didn't think he was claiming "Epstein did nothing wrong" before reading this, I certainly think he does now. Which I'm guessing wasn't the point, but it's the only real takeaway I got from it.

That's a whole lot of words to say that these sex trafficking laws are often used to go after sex workers and people soliciting sex workers.

He needed to get his support of sex criminals in

Based on that quote, without reading it, I divine that his "point" is that lying to someone to get them to travel for sex isn't "reeeallly" trafficking.

That. But also: Trafficking isn't even a real crime, "sex trafficker" and especially "child sex traffickers" are political smears, and also prostitution and trafficking gets conflated so trafficking isn't that bad.

Michael Tracey is a piece of work.

I cannot imagine what it must be like to sit down at a computer, type that out, and somehow think it's a valuable contribution to the world.

Trying to think of a way to work nonce or paedophile into "Michael Tracey" and coming up blank

It's a little forced, kind of like all of Michael Tracey's interactions with women, so stalin-approval

People helping refugees across the border are regularly called human traffickers.

[-] Keld@hexbear.net 19 points 3 days ago

They sure are. Michael Tracey is not going to bat for those people.

I'm so close to checking what the article is actually about
