Well, Drop was already meh for keyboard stuff anyway and with Corsair involved, I’m less interested.

I'm surprised Keychron hasn't been mentioned yet.

I really like my Filco honestly. Very simple but nice feeling mechanical keyboards imo.

I have a 15 year old Filco somewhere, alas I think it's just a bit outdated in features; not having some form of hot-swap socket is a big minus, as my Filco works fine, just that some of the switches are really worn out.

Drop was cool when it was Massdrop.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, the original model of Massdrop was really cool. "Group buying niche items to get a better deal than what you can get by buying them individually" was such a great idea, and provided a way for small manufacturers to reach a larger number of customers at once.

Now everything I see on there is readily available from the original maker, Drop just has them with a Drop-themed color scheme. I don't care about Drop as a brand, I only liked it as a tool for buying hard-to-get things from smaller businesses. But it seems to be working really well for them, so the original Massdrop won't be coming back anytime soon. :(

I miss being able to vote for products to feature, and Massdrop reaching out to the manufacturer to negotiate a deal.

I guess this path was more profitable but 🤷‍♂️

Ugh I hope they don't ruin future MT3 keycaps.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

This is exactly what I was going to say. The MT3 design is the only thing I care about from that site that's long passed it prime. I have a Susuwatari as well as a Godspeed set and they are by far my all time favs. I haven't even looked to buy a new set of caps in years now they are so amazing.

Please Corsair, DON'T SCREW WITH MT3 YOU BASTARDS.
