I'm looking to use moca to add an access point and help a friend expand her wifi coverage. Cost is a consideration, and I the cheapest adapter I could find has the following warning:

WARNING: The GCA-1200 CAN be used when the coax cable is not being used (i.e. “Dark Coax”). The GCA-1200 CANNOT be used when the coax cable is being used for Cable TV/Satellite TV Services.

Is this a usual exclusion, or can other MOCA adapters be used on in use coaxial? And does anyone have recommendations for a very reliable adapter? (She won't know how to reset it if it stops working.)

Thanks for your help!

The ScreenBeam, Motorola MM1025, and GoCoax adapters play very nicely with cable and over the air TV services. Not so much with satellite TV.

Here are some diagrams from GoCoax that should help is setting up MoCA. Be sure to use 5-1675Mhz splitters and ensure that PoE filters are placed where shown on the diagram that applies to you.
