I did a reset of the Apple TV and set it up again.

Try giving it a more detailed name like Master Bedroom.

Rename your Apple TV -> Open HomeKit app -> Locate the Apple TV you want to rename -> tap to select it. On the bottom right hand corner of the screen find the “GEAR” icon to enter Edit mode. Good luck 🍀

It seems to me that you used to have ANOTHER AppleTV which you named “Bedroom”; which is probably still listed under your devices connected to your iCloud.

If you Remove “Bedroom” from your iCloud connected devices, then you WILL be able to change the device called “Bedroom (2)” to “Bedroom”

It does it if there's also a HomePod named Bedroom

But, wouldn’t the HomePod have a different icon, instead of the AppleTV icon ?

If it’s paired as the speaker

Interesting…

You can’t rename it in the home app?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Yes and also on the Apple TV device you can go to settings-AirPlay and Homekit remove it and re add it by naming it just Bedroom. I have four of these devices and I believe I had the same issue.

I'm a tad OCD, & it would drive me CRAZY!!!

I feel your pain!

What happens if you try to rename it through the Home App or Apple TV settings?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Wait until you realise every room with a tv in it is a tv room…

This can pop up when you have more than one mDNS relay configured on your network. If this is the case you’ll often see your device names keep incrementing.

A bit unrelated but I have the same issue with the name of my iPhone in my car. It comes up (iPhone4) and every time I un sync it and re sync it will just increment up one from the last (iPhone5). I am OCD and yes, it drives me nuts.

Try renaming it from the Apple TV something other than bedroom like master or kids as it thinks there’s multiple bedroom devices with the same name
