Being against genocide and agreeing with UN is a career ending move in today's western world.

Agree to support killing children…or else… God forbid we hold another country responsible for genocide publicly.

America primarily.

Fucking ridiculous to have a statement for unbiased reporting have you fired. It wasn't antisemitic and things like these only fuel the fire for Jewish conspiracies like what was supposedly alluded to.

Like how people supposed to act when having a political opinion means you are fired and ostracized? It's logical conclusion to come to that the group you spoke out against is capable of exerting consequences on dissenting thinkers.

Yeah dude: at this point we can strike the word "conspiracy" from the theory ...

Good for her to back up Melissa. The studios thought they could just push people around for having a conscience

Maybe I missed something but it doesn't seem like that was the reason.

Sources insist that Ortega’s departure has nothing to do with Barrera’s firing, which occurred after she made dozens of social media posts following the Israel-Hamas war. Sources say that Ortega’s representatives informed Spyglass prior to the actors strike that the actress, one of the biggest young Hollywood names to emerge in the past decade, would not be returning. Multiple sources say the actress either had no deal or, in the renegotiating of her option, asked what the movie company deemed was too much money.

Interesting, I wonder why it didn't come out sooner. I'm not putting it past the studios to be stingy, but it seems ridiculous that they didn't want to pay her when she has the starring role and they would have to start over from scratch to write her out. Either way, I'm glad she's not going through with it now.

The timing raises questions. Besides, anonymous Hollywood “sources” are not known for their trustworthiness and reliability.

Lol

She told us this months ago. She totally didn't just drop out because we fired the lead, one of her close-ser friends, for dubious reasons in a very public manner, harming her career for Not supporting Zionism.

They're still making Scream installments...

Why?

They're still making Scream installments... Why?

Because it made money.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Jenna Ortega will no longer star in Scream VII, the latest in a dramatic turn of events for the next installment in the storied horror franchise.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter she informed Scream studio Spyglass months ago she did not intend to return.

The news comes one day after Spyglass fired Ortega’s co-star Melissa Barrera after she posted of dozens of messages following the Israel-Hamas war.

Barrera and Ortega have played sisters in the film since 2022’s Scream.

In the short time since that film was released, Ortega became a sizable star thanks to her work on Netflix’s hit Wednesday, and was seen as a lynchpin to the Scream franchise.

Christopher Landon is directing the next installment, which will will recalibrate following these departures.
