It's not specifically nordvpn. It's just certain VPN ips in general.

I use proton VPN and about half the time I can't post without changing where the VPN is connected or just disconnecting.

but I tend to just not bother engaging when it tells me vpns not allowed when I try to post- I'm not jumping through hoops to use social media.

Lemmy world uses cloudflare. Cloudflare blocks problematic IPs. Someone on that vpn IP has been doing naughty things and so the IP was flagged. Just switch your location in the vpn and try again.

only one that seems to work is the US which is the whole point of me buying a VPN to get out of the US. and quit getting dinged. You have any advice or country to pick?

Try locations in Southeast Asia and South America.

tl;dr people were posting CSAM behind VPNs, and they had to either deal with CSAM and ensuing legal issues, or block VPN traffic.

Hey to ask but can you dumb it down that down? Like the Matrix and stuff? I am just looking to connect to a certain country outside of the US that allows me to post and answer questions without shutting down the vpn then posting and turning it back on just to have a conversation.

From my personal experience, not all VPM IPs are blocked. So you may need to cycle through your VPN until you find one that isn’t blocked by LemmyWorld.

I used to use PIA, and I have an app for my kids’ school grades, and I could never connect to the app when on the VPN. But then I switched to Mullvad, and now I can use the app (some locations still don’t work, but most do).

If you can’t use the apps you need while using Nord, you may want to consider another provider.

It’s frustrating, but a lot of websites and apps are blocking VPNs.

I use PIA because my ISP uses CGNAT and lots of services think that means I'm behind a VPN. Surprisingly, the VPN gets me around the VPN restriction sometimes. Go figure...
