Wait, you guys take your phones off vibrate?

I really dislike this change. Before medication reminders would have a loud follow up remind that would scare the shit out of me. Now I keep forgetting about the notification

Things like this is why I don't update.

It's not just an Apple thing, though they are the worst offender, especially because you can't roll back iOS updates. But with nearly every piece of software I work with now, updating is always one step forward, two steps back. I just want it to keep working the way it's working.

And before anyone jumps in and says "but... but... what about security updates???" to that I say, fuck it. With my threat model I don't need it, and I'd rather take whatever the minimal risk is than deal with my software constantly getting more aggravating with every update. What point is there in keeping software up-to-date if it stops working the way you need it to?

There is a notification sound???

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

They took away the option to change the airdrop sound

I wondered why I wasn't getting any notifications. I kept checking my mute switch.

Four months later:

"Introducing iHearingAids..."

The only loud sound I need on my iPhone is the alarm clock so I personally welcome all options of quieter notifications.

i got used to it by the second day

For me it kinda sounds like the sound made when a phone call is ended and i was tripping out when i first heard it

Not just quieter, on my XR it also changes with the volume button, even though prior to iOS 17, volume keys were for media and notifications were synced with Ringtone sound level.

Notifications will work at full volume when Media Volume is full and will be muted when media volume is muted. It's the same even for lock and unlock sounds.

Only the ringtone is free from volume key control.

This update for iMessage sucks.

Mine is actually really loud but the rebound sound scares the shit out of me!! It sounds like a ghost, or like a horror movie special effect lol. It's too spooky that it can't be changed :( Hopefully I'll get used to it but what a weird thing to lock out of customizing. Does apple want this to be their iconic sound or something..?
