Charged it at 7:55pm. Went to sleep with the watch woke up around 80%. It's 2pm and it's at 22%. I haven't used the watch other than wear it to keep time. Its just doing the regular things like heart beat and tracking steps. Haven't used it for work out or any of the other stuff. Battery health is at 99%. Just got this last week. Is this normal use? Thought it was quoted 36 hours battery life under regular use.

Update to 10.1.1, the most recent OS. It was designed to fix the rapid decrease in battery life seen in some models, IIRC, that includes the S9, which would include the ultra 2 as it’s the same chip. Regardless, that’s the first step to troubleshoot it. If it’s already on 10.1.1, try a hard restart, hold the button and crown down at the same time to get a restart.

Power cycle it

My Series 4 is weirdly inconsistent when it comes to battery life. Normally, I wear it between about 7am to 9pm, and it usually has about 50% left at the end of the day. Right before I upgraded to WatchOS 10, I had a day when it was down to about 25% by 5pm. Yesterday, it was more or less normal (ended the day at about 45%), but this morning it went from 100% to 96% in a couple of minutes right after I took it off the charger. Since then, however, battery usage has been basically normal.

I lost 70% in less than a day today, used to get 3 days of battery

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I also had extremely high battery drain today only my ultra 2

Well, I count vouch for you since you only posted the watch's battery graph, but the watch is definitely using too much power. I put my U2 on 6 hours ago at 100%, and it's now at 96%, with the same usage as you had. I'd start with a reboot to see if that helps.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Battery health at 99% and you bought it last week? That doesn’t sound right.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Do you have any active complications on your face? I had the noise level complication on my watch face, and it ate battery because it was always working.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It’s definitely 10. I have been trying to update for three days now it is become unusable. I get 45 minutes to an hour tops.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

After the latest update, everything works normally again. Before that update, it was those widgets that drained the battery significantly.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Let me guess, modular ultra face ??? Since this awesone watch face, battery is melting like icecream on sun.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

this was happening to me last week. I updated it, then i unpaired it then re-paired it with my iphone - and it's back to normal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It’s from the latest update. My watch would drain its battery within 4 hours. A fix that worked for me was fully resetting it. I wasn’t worried about the reset, since the data on it was automatically backed up during the process.

Hope this helps!

There was a bug with watch OS10.1 where third party apps were tanking battery life. My series 8 was dying every 4 hours or so. For me, uninstalling the MobyFace app resolved the issue. When 10.1.1 dropped, I didn’t bother to reload the app. So if you have the MobyFace app, it may be worth trying to remove it

Yeah mines pretty old but would easily make it from wake to bedtime. Today I put it on and it completely died within 5 hours. It’s also taking forever to charge enough to turn back on. This was never an issue before.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Just upgrade to new ultra 2 and you won’t complain anymore, new one keeps battery for 3 days by using the same features as you have mentioned, my own experience 🤓

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That sounds like a bug of some kind 🫤 i’d restart and then maybe even unpair and factory reset, then return to Apple if nothing changes.

It would depends of your usage and settings

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (4 children)

My Series 5 battery seems to be dying more quickly also since the last update. I guess we have to watch (ha) it and see

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

10.1 was great and 10.1.1 such a massive disappointment, battery-wise

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I turned it off and on again after the uodate ajd it helped 100-20 after 10 hours and 2 hours of running

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

That did the trick! 6 hours in and only 14% used. Thanks!

Are you making sure you’re closing all of it’s apps? My last full charge was Sunday night at 10:43pm, and it’s now Tuesday at 3:43pm and I’m still at 49%. Could also be network connectivity issues, or mistakenly leaving WiFi turned on when it’s not needed

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

watchOS version ?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

As others have mentioned make sure you're up to date. I had this issue recently with poor battery life. The fix for me was a restart of my iPhone first and then watch- hopefully this helps!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I charge my ultra 2 every second day when it's down at 35%

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Umm 🤔 have you ever had an iwatch? This is on point

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

My S6 with 81% battery health loses 20% charge over night. I’d reach out to Apple Support

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I get two solid days with mine on the latest WatchOS.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I went to the Apple Store and talked to one of the Apple Watch specialists and he said that he has the same issue. It is caused by the new update and they are currently working on fixing it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Problems like this is exactly why I have not yet updated my iPhone to iOS 17 or my watch to 10. Until Apple fixes all of these issues, I’m happily enjoying a stable iPhone and a long lasting watch Ultra.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Are you tracking mountaineering or extreme sports?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Mine lasts more than two full days. I don’t wear while sleeping.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

My battery life improved after updating the software.

Last charged sun, just plugged it in at 15%.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I get 3 days still

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I turned off always on display and that sorted it for me

I think all Apple Watch models battery life has suffered since the new update. My series 7 would last a day and a half now it’s a getting about 20 hours tops.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Disconnected from 100%, now 89% after 5.5h. Last update. AWSE2. So, no.

I was just thinking this, over the last few days I’ve only been able to get about 24hrs ish with my usual use (normally 2 workouts a day & using the watch to control music etc) whereas before hand I was getting nearly 45ish hours from 100% down to about 10%

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

My battery health is awesome on my AWU2 and it lasts 2+ days with constant daytime wear and daily 1.5-2 hour workouts.

HOWEVER, I wear short-sleeve polos at work so the watch face isn’t being constantly touched (hence, the display is dimmed and complications aren’t displayed).

Yesterday, I wore a long-sleeve button up shirt like the one you’re wearing in the picture, and my battery was at 30% prior to my afternoon workout.

Today, I wore my usual style short-sleeve polo, and my watch is back to normal battery consumption.

So, I’m not 100% sure it’s the constant touching of the face from the shirt sleeve that killed my battery, but I’d say I’m 95-99% sure that’s what happened.

Wear a different short sleeve shirt all day and see if it magically fixes itself. 🤷🏻

I'd say it's dying ULTRA quick 😉
