Hi all,

As I get further into self-hosting one thing I've noticed is that my internet connection disappears for 5-15 seconds and sometimes for a few minutes at a time. At first I thought it might be my wireless access point so I upgraded that and also wired in a few devices but the drop-offs continued.

At this point I can't tell if maybe my OpenWrt router (FriendlyELEC NanoPi R6S), Arris DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem, or the ISP itself is the problem which leads to the overall question: has anyone had similar problems and how did you track down the source?

I dug into my router's logs today and I can't say anything stood out, and also can't say I know what I'm looking for either. Anyway, any help would be appreciated!

Well, as you said, the reason could be either your router or on the ISP side. If you have another router you can test (maybe from a friend?), that would be a good first start. Otherwise, you'll probably have to call out an ISP tech to see if they can identify any issues.
