And the rule of sequels go, it is definitely worse than the original.

[-] brem@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The rule doesn't apply to 'T2'.

If you were to ask me: 'Aliens' & 'Thankskilling III' (technically, there is no II, as III is... nevermind. No spoilers.)

[-] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Exceptions don't obviate the rule.

Not all animals are slugs but all slugs are animals?

Great name!!!! Mind if I do a song/poem/wordthang??? Pretty please???

A non monotonic function to the back of the brain

Lifting one thumb, but two is the same

I prefer the right one

But the left is just fine

Who are you to tell me of my brain 69?

Slurgush burgle opislorp, I have but one bignal

Is a nonmonotonic smorgasbord more than one signal?

Chorus (dancing) (jumping) (spinning bits)

[[bows with gratitude for encore]]

You liked my monotonous non-meno-song!!!

I feel appreciated, my spirit is strong!

Been hanging onto consciousness for a bit too long!

Turns out we shouldn't drink the juice from a bong!?

I hope your day (or night) turns out great

Please excuse me while I go contemplate

Please teach kindness to those full of hate

Drink lots of water and always regulate

[-] brem@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Agreed.

I don't even need III.

I hate this eugenics ass movie that tries to pretend the problem with the world is stupid people. The problem is that even smart people aren't wise enough

The premise in the intro sequence about genetics and intelligence is bogus, but anti-intellectualism is a huge problem and this movie called how bad it was going to get. Bad things happen when people don't value science or rational thinking, even if that's not the only source of problems.

This is true, but even the most passionate anti-intellectual movements will lose out in the end. Not embracing science and rational thinking is a huge disadvantage in the long run as technology and educated workers make a nation more powerful. Meanwhile, every passionate political movement will die out eventually, as people always want novel solutions when problems are never solved.

[-] chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

Well yeah, although I would argue that the narrative of Idiocracy supports this idea

[-] brem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The problem is people.

Is it genocide if we all die?

Only the cats will know.

We're also not gonna all die; people assume extinction is the worst fate in store for us

A quick death is a painless death.

Imagine living in a world in which the loudest people lead the human herd over the most jagged & sloppy proverbial cliff?

....oh, wait

A quick death is a painless death.

Which is exactly why people jump to it in their assumptions of what a climate apocalypse will look like. Billions will die from all the disasters, famine, and wars caused by environmental instability, but many will survive and need to live on in the fucked up world we created. Thinking about collapse is sad, but thinking about what comes after is far less comforting.

Also, it isn't the loudest leading us off a cliff, but the richest and most powerful. In a certain sense, they are incapable of doing otherwise without losing their place in the system.

If Lucy's parents did not decide to start walking on 2 legs we wouldn't live under capitalism. Fuck you Lucy's parents!

[-] brem@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Goes back in time

Fossilizes Lucy

The time Musheen whurrs into a kickass blur

"Itz dun.", says Kid Rock

All the sudden, a big fuckin' man lookin' lifted kickass truck pulls up. It has 5 sets of platinum truck nuts on the rear bumper. Marco Ruby-Yo is witnessed being lifted from the cab via drone.

Ruby-Yo lands and does a Naruto run to a nearby couch, which has... You guessed it..

Fruckin' JayDee!

The crowd goes frickin wild and throws flags and bibles or whatever. Who cares.

Eventually, people get hungry and angry and uncomfortable enough where they have to eat everything that can't run fast if they want to live.

The end.

can we just have a worldwide viewing of this movie

[-] brem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I haven't made it yet.

Gotta get Mike or whomever owns the rights (probably Dusney) to allow me to do the sequel. Rights to screenplay first... Then we have to name the business that's running crafty. Maybe "Foodstein Island"?

You can help if you want. How good are you at holding a camera?

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
