Good Morning,

Had an apparent internet outage and wondering if anyone can walk me through the best way to troubleshoot since my setup is (to me) slightly convoluted as far as testing.

Current setup:Spectrum FTTH Modem --> Netgear Unmanaged 5-Port Switch --> Ethernet Runs (home is a new build as of October 2023) --> Living Room ethernet port --> Ubiquiti EdgeRouter4 --> Netgear Unmanaged 5-Port Switch --> Synology RT 2600AC (In Access Point mode).

Tested so far:

  1. Modem --> Laptop with ethernet cable = internet signal
  2. Modem --> Living Room ethernet port (so bypassing switch) = No connection
  3. Laptop into EdgeRouter to see if it is receiving a signal and it did not look like it
  4. Modem --> Living Room ethernet --> Synology AP (bypass EdgeRouter) = No connection

Had to go into the office so cannot test until later, but seems like I should do the following:

  1. Contact Spectrum to ensure connection to the modem is functioning
  2. Test the connection from the ethernet port directly to a laptop (bypass router and AP)
  3. Try a different ethernet port in another room

Any more thoughts or ideals? Any good tools I should have to test things?

EDIT: fat fingered order of chain. Fixed it.
