The glass that covers the back camera on my brand new iPhone 13 crack today while sitting in my pocket. The lens of the camera is fine, this is only the glass cover.

I tried looking up videos to repair this, but every iPhone 13 repair video I found shows a different glass cover. They all have a solid piece of glass that covers the entire back side of the phone with cut outs for the lenses and separate glass where each lens sits. My phone doesn't have this, It's a solid glass piece which you can see in the photo.

Does anyone know where I can buy these parts and have tips and how to fix this myself?

This is a standard iPhone 13.

iphones don’t come with that, the last owner put that on

Check out the spigen glas.tr ez fit optic pro.. never had issues with it

How dumb are you? It’s a camera protector. Take it off and put a new one on. It’s just like a screen protector. When the protector cracks it’s time for a new protector.

  1. That is a refurb or secondhand iPhone. It is not new, because
  2. Apple doesn’t add a lens protector to the camera array the back and array housing are one solid piece and
  3. That is add-on placed by the previous owner.

So if the iPhone is just new-to-you, then you can remove that and order another from Amazon if you’re inclined. I prefer individual covers as a one-piece can transfer the force of impact and crack your actual iPhone back glass.

If Verizon claimed this was unsold stock, I’d have an angry word with them.

Did you steal this phone?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Well get the cover off, should be fine below, never put lense covers on iPhone camera lenses!

Meant to say not from the factory, Freudian slip there, oh well.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah but not the one that makes iPhones.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

This is a aftermarket protector and it’s not included with your phone so someone sold you a pre owned phone for brand new price

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

That is not a standard iPhone 13 lol

Source: me, using an actual stock iPhone 13 to type this.

Second all comments thus far. It’s simply a tempered glass screen protector for your lenses. You can pull it off easily, and buy a new one online easily!

No just don’t use these covers. However transparent they claim the image quality is compromised. Unless you are a very careless person

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I mean… it’s not my phone, and my phone doesn’t have a lens cover. I was simply responding to OP.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Verizon must have sent you a pre owned phone don't see how it was brand new. Apple wouldn't stick those camera things on. Guess it was pre owned

Yep this !!!

Some people are just SLOWWWW

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

reminds me of that spongebob episode where patrick tries to remove a lid from a pickle jar.

Your phone isn’t brand new (Or Verizon installed the cover themselves without telling you, which very unlikely)

If you paid for a brand new phone, you got some questions to ask them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I gotta think a sales person selling a $20 camera protector to an oblivious customer is a more likely scenario than the phone being used.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Just peel it off. No need to replace it. It just breaking in your pocket should be proof enough to how useless these are.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

all you need to do is take a hair dryer and blow it over the camera protector. use an old credit card to lift it and wipe off any adhesive. this is NOT a part from apple.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Don’t replace it, and just take it off.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

These just reduce camera quality

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

If put on incorrectly. If put on correctly it won’t affect the quality.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago
[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It affects the quality no matter what. Sapphire is more clear than glass.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

The extra protection softens your images. I can't believe theres a whole market to make phones look and stay good rather than actually use to its base potential

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Just remove it. it’s supposed to be a protective glass layer for the lenses but the lenses are made from sapphire glass which is pretty strong and doesn’t need this to protect it.

Geez, some of these comments are snarky for no reason.

In the future, get a case with a raised edge around the cameras just for peace of mind. They are always "on sale" on Amazon for less than $30. I like them because they make the phone easier to grip and absorb any shock from when I drop my phone like 5x a week.

Get a cheap glass screen protector, too. People argue they're unnecessary but I just like the extra security since I'm very clumsy. I never worry about my screen or glass backing cracking/scratching anymore, and it'll get you more money at trade-in.

I recommend the Otterbox Symmetry series (not affiliate link). iPhones have gotten much hardier. You don't need that cheap thing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Thank you, I just purchased a case on Amazon with raised edges around the camera and I pulled off the lens cover. I miss my old pixel 5 that had the aluminum case with a matted back, I had that phone for 3 years and never needed a case :/

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

The lens of the iPhone camera uses sapphire since iPhone 4. Actual sapphire, which can only be scratched by diamonds. Therefore the lens does not need "protection".

Though looks like the "lens protector" might need some.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Please tell me this is a joke

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

That’s a lens protector thst previous owner added, peel it off.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Get some dental floss and try prying it through
