Can we talk about the fact Apple wants to to hold your phone at arms length, wtf? That would ache after a few mins of doom scrolling 😂

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I have this turned on by choice to help me keep my phone a better distance away from my face. BUT I am also near sighted so at night lying in bed I get this warning every 2-3 minutes. VERY ANNOYING. Like can I get a setting where I can set this to a certain time like the day when my glasses are on my face and off at night when I just want to browse reddit in bed. By the way typing this message earned me two more visits from the warning about being too close to my face.

By keeping your phone further away from your face.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Such a dumb feature

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Can you read?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Arms length? That’s like 3 feet that’s so uncomfortable

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well as for “what is this” it’s telling you to extend your arm from your face and as for how to get rid of it… extend your arm from your face

Press the button “I’m willing to sacrifice my eyes for more entertainment addiction”

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It will go away with you getting older ;)

I am legally blind and I hold my phone very close to face even though I have glass I can’t read unless it’s very close to my face so this warning would mean I won’t be able to use my phone at all lol thankfully it’s not on by default

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

So illegally are you not blind?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Can you not wear glasses or contacts? Or is legally blind too bad for any of those options? Honest question.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

How do I turn it on? This is great

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Googling is hard isn’t it OP

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Seriously though, who actually holds their phone at arm's length? That's just too far.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I turned it on thinking this could benefit me - then it complained in the morning when I just woke up and was still in bed. So I turned it off.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I’ve never even seen this warning before. I don’t like it though. Does that mean that the front facing camera is on all the time? Sounds creepy and draining on your battery.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I wouldn’t mind it if it would go away once I moved the phone away. Instead I have to manually exit the pop up 🤦🏿‍♂️

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Does this mean Apple also knows when we’re picking our noses?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes, and they have a warning when you eat your boogers! ( don’t ask how I know)

What degree of hypermetropia does this kid have to hold their iphone this goshdang close

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I hate this message and I find it very annoying, but I’m not turning it off!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I don’t think I can see my phone at arm’s length so maybe my eyesight is already damaged.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Keep your iPhone at arm’s length.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

And its annoying

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Follow the screen

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Your grandmother came back from 1995 and told you you’re sitting too close to the Tv. Lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Wait my grandma is dead? She was just over at my house a few days ago 😭

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

This is yet another reason why I feel old and out of touch. I just assume everyone’s grandparents are dead too lol.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

You'll burn your eyes out!

Hold your phone closer to your face. Eventually, you’ll never see this warning again…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Your phone no longer wants intimacy

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I really wanna know how close you hold your phone

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

lol, read comments to see if anyone suggested replacing iOS with Android but that will probably get me banned from this sub now, even though I have more iPhones now than alternatives

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Aging will naturally have you move your iphone further and further away to see it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It is in screen time and there you can turn it off

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Isn’t there an education campaign about this myth in 2010 or something, why apple still believe it?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

It’s never turned on by default! Wtf are you trying to achieve here?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

How do I get this

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Is OP holding his phone like this?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago
