On the one hand, to me, "mobile suits" should feel titanic and weighty, larger than life. So yet another Gundam zipping around like a demented chimpanzee on crack is... I dunno. Fighting space robot aliens is also a choice, since the man-vs-man and political background is a key part of what distinguishes Gundam.

On the other hand, a Gundam game in 2027, by Bandai-Namco, scored by Mick Gordon? That is such incredible levels of hype and I really, really hope that this is good.

Yeah! Huge robots should feel like huge robots! They need to have heft behind them! I ask all excited though lol

You can have heft and speed. AC6 is my benchmark, and I'm not seeing that here.

The pile driver hits like a truck in AC6 and you can still put it on a spindly butterfly build that basically never stops boosting.

This whole trailer looks like a Monster Hunter reskin

I'm not familiar with the Gundam series, but I've seen the YouTube video of why Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim works while the sequel does not, it feels like the people animating the promo should have as well. The gameplay looked better then the pre-rendered scenes, which should never really be a thing.

huh...a Souls Like Gundam? that's what it looked like to me. Also interesting to see Gundam vs what appear to be monsters and not mobile suits.

They pretty much already did that with Armored Core VI. Loved it, despite not liking the souls difficulty.

Would you be surprised to learn its the same company? In fact, Armored Core is the OG souls like that came out before the first Souls game.

I'd argue that King's Field is the OG Souls game though, not Armored Core

Gonna have to disagree. I actually played ancient city way back when on ps2. I'd have to say it was most similar to resident evil having a baby with a doom mod. Dark, yes, but only dark. Otherwise, its hard to distinguish from any other fps style horror/adventure title.

Armored core, on the other hand, has the scale and the engagement that is much more in line with later souls releases. Kings Field has the tone, but Armored Core has literally everything else.

The only thing I don't really like about this trailer is the art style, particularly of the characters. Not liking the characters being photo-realistic, especially when the cutscene ended and the gameplay graphics were significantly washed out greys (growing problem in modern realistic games), you know the characters are going to look worse.

I would rather they gone with an art style like Screamer, where the mecha and environment are semirealistic and lighting is good, but the characters are still cel shaded. I feel it would have fit better.
