French autorities say that banning away fans for this match had little to do with the safety for Ajax fans but rather the safety for the Marseille fans. "Agressive behavior is something that is seen a lot with Ajax ultras, who mostly operate under the name 'F-Side'. They are known as one of the most dangerous groups of Europe."

In 2009 things already went wrong between the two clubs when Marseille and Ajax faced eachother in the UEFA cup. Ajax fans went with a big group of fans to Marseille. Ajax fans were then attacked by Marseille fans with bricks, sticks and iron bars. Ajax fans then chased Marseille fans until police showed up. In the return in Amsterdam Ajax fans held up a banner saying "We had joy we had fun, we had L'om on the run".

Embarrassing, this is how football fans are treated every week end in France. The gov chooses the easy way out everytime with the ban of fans even for fixtures with low to no risk of riots or incidents, no real rivalry or tensions between clubs

I genuinely couldn't imagine a more violent fixture in western europe, both sets of fans are absolute scum lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Ajax supporters don't really stab / murder people. The stabbing happens in France / Italy a lot.

Millwall, Lazio, Praha just to name a few.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Not to forget Feyenoord.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Wouldn't be too concerned about Millwall if they visited Amsterdam. But i don't think Ajax have thr most violent fans in Europe. Our ultras are not angels but compared to a few others in Europe it's not that bad.

Groningen vs Saint-Etienne

Your club is just copying them from last season (minus the relegation): https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=7j6kFgL4Zf8 😂

We are not angels, but a little bit self reflection is needed after they allowed Marseille fans to bombard the Lyon coach (injuring him), and teambus with stones.

It’s ok though, after investigating themselves, everyone concluded they did their job correctly.

The game will be (re-)played in Marseille as if nothing happened. No sanctions no blames. All good.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Actually something did happen: they banned Lyon fans from going and recommended to use better fortified buses... Basically Lyon's fault!

That sounds like an Onion article headline

You expected something else from French bureaucracy? Anything they can do to not actually have to do anything

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

French are at it again

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

From the bottom of my heart. Fuck the French police.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

We host the Olympics. It will be awful security wise.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Our fans haven't been that violent in Europe recently, right?

They trashed our own stadium and forcefully suspended league games, but I can't remember any outstanding act of violence abroad for at least a decade.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Tbh that isn’t 100% true, but yeah not that much. But the general consensus is Ajax=Dutch=Bad

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Tbh in the long run it’s probably saved your fans getting beaten up by the French police for no reason

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Beaten and tear gassed for no reason. As is tradition.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

True, you gotta be a bit mad going to Marseille away.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

This is a good thread. No one is taking the bait from the police and Ajax fans aren't denying we have some issues.

Good shit lads.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

bit ironic aint it considering how bad France is getting with hooliganism in their fan bases.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

When is the last time you heard French supporters make trouble away?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Marseille, the mickey mouse fans of Europe.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

French police pretending to care about the safety of Marseille fans

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Lol, actual lol

The French are so civil

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Our police is just shit. There were issues with some Dutch fans on away games but it's also up to the authorities to make sure things go well when they come.

This is a total embarrassment, combined with the scandals surrounding the French police with far-right policemen, some who murder people without facing consequences, domestic abuse, lack of hiring, etc. A complete rebuilding of the police institution is needed

Don't take it personally Ajax bros, it's the excuse used weeks in weeks out by our incompetent authorities to justify the ban on traveling fans. Infuriating but it really says more about Marseille and french authorities than it says about you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Whether it's ajax or any other team it's always like that anyway, our fans complain every time about away fans restrictions but apart from AEK fans we can't have anyone come close to us without the most stupid behaviour coming out, doesn't even matter who started what, the reality is there's always a small group of fans who's too dumb to just go watch a game and behave. I don't have much love for the police and their awful organisation but I can somewhat understand why they'd rather avoid having visitors if they can.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What Marseille fans did to Lyon's bus don't make a strong case for them, but it has mostly been French authorities taking the easy route.

Instead of deploying and organizing themselves to secure a safe environment for travelling fans, whoever they are, they just straight up ban them so it's easier for them, don't even need to bother.

And then when you have the UCL final, you have no clue how to manage fans.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Come to think about it, the French police aren't so different from my country (Indonesia). They're too lazy to think about solving the problems properly and they just ban things (and people).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Classic French Police BS.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Lyon were punished for that one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

TLdR;

I’m not locked in here with you. You’re locked in here with me!

-Ajax fans

-French Police Department

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

So the French police have managed to pre-emptively blame fans for violence that hasn't even happened yet.

Ajax fans have surpassed Liverpool fans in the "French police trying to blame you" stakes. Liverpool fans got blamed for shit they were the victims of. Ajax fans just got blamed for shit in the future

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

People here acting surprised. Every single time Dutch fan travel for away EU game, they just sack cities and attack random people.

Good decision, maybe Dutch police will do a little bit more to actually prevent the most violent supporters to travel.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Nothing new from this ghetto ass club (referring to Ajax, not anyone else).
