There's a lot of debate over how we "ought" to view these people. Man, feel how you wanna feel. You have a right to be angry with them. Fuck, they are stupid assholes. You can also feel pity and have a desire to find common ground. It's normal to celebrate a redemption arc.

But one thing you can't argue, is that the signs weren't there. That those folks had no way of knowing that Trump was a grifting, lying, narcissistic, rapist idiot criminal. All these dumb fucks on tv acting surprised, not doing themselves any favors right now. Look inward, realize you're an imbecile or a bigoted shitheel for buying into his bullshit, and then start over. Get on tv and say "holy fuck I am a bad person" and that redemption arc gets realistic.

I've said it for years, you vote for Trump for one of three reasons (usually multiple of the three listed but at the very least one).

  1. you are a brainwashed cultist.

  2. you are a bigot.

  3. you are greedy.

I haven't seen a single Trump voter that doesn't fulfill at least one of these requirements, and I still feel nothing for them. If I could transpose all the suffering they've caused to others onto them, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

You shouldn't expect someone to care about you just because you give them power. You should give power to people who care about you!

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world -5 points 2 hours ago

So I shouldn't vote for anyone. Got it.

Honestly if that's what your takeaway is, the world would be a better place if you didn't vote. Moron.

Raise your hand if you saw this shit coming and feel no remorse for "I was duped" crowd 🙋‍♂️

Sad that they're such assholes who lack empathy that they are only regretting their vote now that it's hurting them.

They didn't and probably still don't care about the grift, the racism, the rape, the dictatorship, et cetera.

They're garbage people and I don't feel bad for them. If they turn away from all the other stuff - then I'll have some empathy.

IMO they haven't been hurt enough. I want farms lost. Jobs lost, I want them broken

[-] tomkatt@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

And then what? What does this accomplish? What’s the end goal beyond more suffering and radicalization?

[-] Eldritch@piefed.world 2 points 1 hour ago

If there were some group that wasn't the very group that's hurting them to buy up their lands and resources. Then you might have a point. Then it would be extremely fitting for them to have to work on what used to be their lands that they lost through mismanagement. But that's not what would happen. Wealthy oligarchs will buy at the land for pennies on the dollar put them out of work and not create a job in its place. We will all suffer collectively just so one very uninformed dumb person suffers as well. That's a very conservative mindset

[-] Kichae@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 hour ago

Bingo. There's no upside here. Either very stupid, selfish millionaire bigots own the farms, or somewhat less stupid billionaire bigots own them.

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 hours ago

I only pity their children

[-] Rooskie91@discuss.online 7 points 3 hours ago

America is the land of individuals, and decades of propaganda have cemented that, unfortunately.

[-] elbucho@lemmy.world 24 points 3 hours ago

That was your line in the sand? Fuck you, lady.

[-] BigMacHole 17 points 3 hours ago

And to SPITE him she's going to Vote for Him and His Cronies AGAIN! THAT will Teach him!

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

No no he'll vote for Vance who truly cares.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

He?

. . . Did I watch the video?

[-] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 hours ago

Im already pretty much ruined, and I didn't vote for this asshole. I hope that whomever did is killed by his antics. I want them to be on the receiving end of ICE. I hope they find their way into a concentration camp.

[-] Willy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

This is very old news. It’s also a cut that is taken out of context. I still think he’s wrong but do better.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Yeah! Do better! . . Uh . . You people.

[-] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 2 hours ago

We need to embrace these people, despite their mistakes. They're misled by our media and by their upbringing. They mistrust society, education, etc., because of the very people they vote for. It's a feedback loop.

We need to allow the leopard faces to heal up so they can see and learn from their mistakes. If that's not possible, then fine, but everyone should be able to make amends or we are a poor society.
