I have a restricted work laptop that requires Cisco VPN connectivity to function properly. Additionally, administrative privileges are necessary to install any software. I need to control this laptop remotely from another country as I will be traveling to my home country. I attempted to use portable TeamViewer, which does not require installation, but my employer was able to track my activity.

I would like to know if there is a secure and efficient method to remotely control my restricted work laptop from anywhere without the need for a complex setup. I am a beginner in this area and have heard about PI-KVM and TinyPilot, but I am unsure which one would be best suited for my situation and how to set it up. Any assistance or step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated as it would allow me to maintain my job and address an urgent travel situation.

TinyPilot is your answer. PiKVM will require a driver install you won't be able to get around as you said you don't have local admin rights. Use TailScale to VPN back into your home network so that you can access TinyPilot from afar if you don't already have your own VPN solution. Ignore the haters on here who are overzealous network security wannabees. I am in a similar situation to yours and my employer is ridiculous.

Thank you bro for your helpful response. I have configured things perfectly with PiKVM v4 plus. V4 mini Should also work in the same way.

You are welcome! Glad to help! How were you able to get the PiKVM to work with your company laptop? My PiKVM insisted on a driver install to get the keyboard and mouse going remotely, and since I don't have local admin rights to the laptop, I could not install the driver's the PiKVM 4 seemed to want, which is why I went with the TinyPilot, as it did not require any drivers for the USB connection and just worked out of the box. Thanks!

If you can install a program or service on your restricted work laptop then try Twingate.
