The age verification is a blatant lie. It was always about ID verification and tracking.

Marketing companies want to ID bots and collect real marketing data to sell for advertising. Governments want to track citizens and isolate any dissidents and nonconformists as well as track spending and therefore collect more tax revenue.

Wasn't the California bill just a requirement to self report your birth date, and that's it?

If this is the same bill, then it may be bad that it doesn't cover all OS's. A federal law may be able to require far worse.
