EXPLAINING THE JOKE FOR WHO DIDN'T GET IT: (movie spoilers)

spoilerThis is about the movie My Girl, which is about a hypocondriac girl and a boy (on the lower image) with tons of allergies, one of them being bees, who develop a friendship. At the movie, the girl drops her ring near a beehive, and the boy goes to look for it, only to get stung by bees and die due to his allergy.

Ah, thanks for reminding me that this movie gem exists. I'll just go to bed and stare at the ceiling for eight hours now.

Because the writer and/or director was a sick son of a bitch 🤷🏻

I shouldn't ask because I'm sure I don't want to know... which film?

Ah. I never saw this one, but the way people were talking about in this thread it reminded me that Happiness exists, a film I couldn't fucking finish and makes me nauseous to think of to this day...

Yep - ended up that he actually pulled through and went to live with his biological mom and touched the lives of many. It’s called “The Good Son,” and it’s a heartwarming foil to the very sad ending of My Girl.

Also, if you are looking for a good foreign film about family I suggest visitor Q

it is about a family that is on the brink of falling apart, until a mysterious stranger enters their lives, befriends them, and reunites them in the end.

I'd like to point out the actual lyric is 'made of this', not 'made of these' as most people hear it.

That's such a shame since neither word rhymes with the word "disagree."

Anyway, if what you say is true, Annie Lennox sure has a weird way of pronouncing the word "this." She pronounces it EXACTLY like the word "these." Art is weird.

She says more "theeeeeeis", there's a hint of an "is" sound at the end of the word.

I don't get it. It's meant to rhyme with "disagree", and it's not like the song is interpreted differently if it's "these" vs "this".

it's called a slant rhyme, and it is the playground of the devil.

See: "Here I am, rock you like a hurricane" for another famous example of two words rhyming that don't.

I'm 60, and I have refused to watch My Girl to this day, because I learned how it ended back when it was released. Sometimes, spoilers are a good thing.
