I thought that was old news? I'm sure I saw a PBS series a few years ago that covered that info.

No they don’t. They have a theory.
You have to walk a fine line when it comes to science communication and unfortunately this is something you'll see pretty much every time. Explaining models and theories to the layman is not a bad thing but the more info you have to convey, the more the message gets buried. It's a tough one.
