I like it cause I'm lazy! But the benefits are also great to see for wider No Mow May - hopefully we see this continue to grow and council's adopt this policy officially too

Totally supportive of this! Just annoying if you live in a tick-infested area and you also see an uptick (heh) of tick population. Maybe not a problem in Scotland though, I actually don't know.

There's a few about. But usually very easy to deal with. The poor hedgehogs seem to get the worst of it. But they are tough wee things and barely seem to notice.

I prefer the long grass (except for things like sports pitches and stuff. Obviously). Unless there's a good reason to mow, leave it be. Also, with a lot of councils charging specifically for garden "waste" uplift that's a pretty big disincentive to cut.
